Rethinking the case

Is anyone out there doing anything out of the ordinary to bring us a case that is setup a little different? My point is that almost every case has airflow problems, the drives are always in the same place etc etc etc. And most of the new "desktop" boxes are just towers laying on their sides.

I mean... how about rethinking the whole configuration?

hmmm, good idea, i think i might get on the case.

I had an idea a while ago to improve the air flow in my old case, and it worked, i used some car air ducting that was 60mm wide, and strapping a fan @ the front sucking air in, and one @ the back expelling the air, this ran in a chicane shape staring @ the bottom front of the case, and up past the back of the hard disks and then across to teh back of the case, and it passes over the cpu fan, with an opening and that drawasair from the front down to the cpu fan, however some air continues out the back,it kept my hard disk tempatures down, and when i added my round IDE cables and new zalman flower cpu fan, it kept my tempatures really low, well as low as 38

hehe, i might market my nice invention or even sell some cases like that... LOL none of you steal my ideas....... hehe

I think a PC built in a Sono tube like a boom box would be cool. Speakes in both ends, control panel and drives at the midway point.
to look something like this

I think Enermax claims their slanted aluminum ones have better cooling. Don't know why that would be tho. They're nice looking but really expensive.
Maybe they're afraid that few people would buy a case that doesn't conform to standards that most components are built for. I mean some motherboards won't fit in AT and ATX, so there could be real compatibility issues with a radical new design.

That does look rather funky.
