Thread Preview Pop-up

Post by waferdog »

I basically visit two forums everyday: Speedguide (obviously) and Techimo

There is one feature of the Techimo forum that I find invaluable and would like to see if it could be possible if it could be somehow implemented here.

When you put your cursor over a thread title in a Techimo forum, a little popup box comes and previews the contents of the first post in that thread. This allows one to quickly scan through the threads to get an idea what they are about and decide which ones to visit. This is especially handy when you don't have much time to spend browsing.

Surprisingly, this has allowed me to spend time with some threads that I would have bypassed based solely on the thread title. It has also allowed me to avoid threads that are essentially junk posts (or PM's gone bad, as I call them).

Actually, I like this feature so much, and it so ingrained in my habits, that I when visit Speedguide, I find myself sticking my cursor over the thread titles in the hopes that something will popup.

I am not sure if this is possible to implement here. Both sites seem to be use vbulletin, but I believe that the implementation on Techimo is a self-made hack and not a standard feature.

Thanks for considering,
