I got my new HS today. This thing is the product of convection mastery on Thermalrights part. I do have one question though. The base cooler is narrow for better airflow but it does'nt seem to contact the die pads. Am I supposed to place the pads it came with on top of the existing ones' for support?

yehi think you are supposed to put those pads on the copper hs
mostly for protection against cracking the core i think

Thats what I'm thinking. Otherwise it's a balancing act no core is designed to withstand.

The Pads are to go on the Corners on the heatsink to protect the CPU- I tryed it and my temps went way up because the core was not in good contact with the Heatsink - Since the cpu has pads on it from AMD - I did not use the pads from Thermalright - It works great !!!

I just wanted to be safe before I installed it. Thanks for turning me on to this HS. I saw it in your sig and from other post. It's a much better design than the Volcano 7+. The fan is rather loud as you had said, but it's in a more tollerable key.

Anyway thanks again Duz.

Great link

I did put them on. I had to take the MB out to seat the HS properly. Other than how LOUD the fan is I love it.
