I am a complete newbie with all this stuff since im only 14 but I need help. I have cable with a Surfboard SB4100 and I only download at 50kb/sec max. I went to http://www.numion.com and it said the same thing. When I play online games like UT2003 and Tribes2 my ping goes over 900. I have a router so my two computers can have cable so would that make me run so slow?

Welcome to SG...

Were both computers being used (downloading files, playing games online, etc.) when you experienced these ping spikes and speed problems? Also, what is your down/up caps? (If unsure, contact your ISP.)

No my other computer was turned off. And I don't know what my down/up caps are. Do I need to tweak my cable to make it work better?

Tweaking may help your speeds, assuming your not reaching your cap, which you most likely aren't.

As for latency (pings), please conduct and post some trace routes to game srvers you frequent.
