I was just wondering if you could use a server at your home to answer phone calls???
I've heard something about it, but dunno how to go about doing it.
If it is possible to do, would winNT 4 or win2k pro be appropriate for the task?

There usually is a piece of software that comes with modems nowadays that will do this. Myself I never tried it and now I would not as my 56k modem collects dust as cable rules the roost around here. You may want to check your modem's documentation on this on how to use the software provided (if any). In the end though when it is set up the computer would have to be left on so if you are in and around California this is NOT the way to go with the rolling blackouts going on

Hi donald_k, actually I'm on cable too and as you know plenty of power in ontario

, I've finally decided to assemble a server now that I have the proper spare parts and figure I could save myself $8 from Bell for answering services. I also wanna split 1 broadband line 3 ways as opposed to paying for three separate lines (currently).
Does anyone know what the name of this technology is for the modem? Wow, I have to buy a modem.
