have gas prices fallen in your area?
So I bought a tank of gas in Oregon today. Usually it's a lot higher than Idaho. However, because Idaho has some very large gas reserves, it has to use that up before the prices drop here. We get screwed on that because it works in reverse too. When prices creep up, buisiness in other states, send tankers up here to fill up on the cheaper prices.
You can't pump your own gas in Oregon and they have higher fuel taxes, yet they are around 32 cents a gallon cheaper right now.

Driving the price up of gas? Maybe in Oregon but not in NJ. Jersey has one of the lowest gas prices in the nation.Sava700 wrote:yeah I believe its Oregon and New Jersey that don't allow you to pump your own gas..they require someone to do it for you thus driving the price up to offset the wage.

That's historically pretty common regardless of area. Gas stations right on a main highway, or immediately by the offramp..will be higher. As you drive down roads away from the highway..prices drop. Around where I am (heavy tourist area)..you can see differences of 50c/gal....even more...in a matter of a few blocks. Prime gas station areas are right by the heaviest of traffic, by the highway, they soak the tourists and travelers.Sava700 wrote:I'd like to say that here..but there were stations saturday that I saw at 2.59$/gallon and just 3miles away near the interstate there was one still at 2.89$/gallon
30cents different just 3miles is crazy!

Every normal man must be tempted at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats.
I often wonder if the voices in my head ever get frustrated because I'm just too damn lazy to climb that clock tower.

I was wondering how much better our economy would be doing if people weren't spending 200+ bucks a month to get to work. If prices stay low maybe we will get a chance to find out...Sava700 wrote:Once it gets under a 2$ average national then we are in good shape and we need to make sure it stays like that regardless of the summer driving season.
I'm seeing 2.30's here right now

Dropped over here for us too... down to less than £1 / litre for the first time in a year. Still stupidly expensive though. I read that even today, despite OPEC stating they're going to cut down production, the cost of crude dropped to around $60 a barrel due to less demand during the economic crisis.
I'm not sure of the conversion rate between Euros and Dollars, but wouldn't that be roughly the equivalent of about $5 to $6 per gallon? I know sometime earlier this year diesel was up to around $11 US over in Europe...stevebakh wrote:Dropped over here for us too... down to less than £1 / litre for the first time in a year. Hehe, I just did a search on my previous posts... In August 2007, the petrol was a few pence cheaper than it is now and I was still paying the equivalent of $7 / (US) Gallon.Indy wrote:I'm not sure of the conversion rate between Euros and Dollars, but wouldn't that be roughly the equivalent of about $5 to $6 per gallon? About a month ago I was paying, again, $7.22 / Gallon (and that's with the current low exchange rate). Right now, it's at about $6.40 I think.
This is one of the reasons I changed jobs and found work closer to home.
Down to $2.22/gallon...
