FYI, Misty is my best friend...

Don't be fooled by the fact that I haven't been to SG in 2 months.

Btw, that photochop is the proud recipient of the MissTynker2 seal of approval... ;)

OMG!!!! I absolutely LOVE it!! And I soooo appreciate the work it must have taken to create it for me. THANK YOU!!!

For those that seem a bit confused ...let me explain a bit here. The upper brace is an exact model of the one I am wearing today, and will long after the back surgery to correct the spinal compression fractures. The legs...which will be the following surgeries are going to have metal stents placed inside the arteries, to keep the circulation open, after the angioplasty procedures. Could that be a more wonderful picture?? Not in my book!!

Thank you Jeff!! :thumb:

Hi Guys and Gals,
Well, the report is in. I must say once again it has been a very interesting, challenging day. I doubt I could even begin to spell all the medical terms etc. found, and procedures to follow...but let me do the best I can here, and hope it makes a slight bit of sense.

First off..a second fracture was discovered as suspected, and a third with a slight hairline, along with a bulging dics to accompany degenerative disease of the spine. The "cement" job cannot be done at all...as explained to me...to strenthen one vertabrae, strengthens that particular piece, however would put so much pressure on the one above and below...that the end result would be like a domino effect, and in fact, break each one of those, one at a time because of all of the above...near the same story if the disc gives up.

A difference brace was prescribed, which also was an impossible fete to accomplish because of the strap area pressure and location..could also literally break a bone...so they have already rebuilt the one in Jeffs picture.I suppose there I can still be called the new bionics...they built it stronger, better, and faster movement will follow. :) , but it will take months.

I cannot take the stomach injections for the osteoperosis either, because they are female hormone based, and which is also a no no for me because of the previous type of cancer, even though 20 years ago. Fosomax will be the continuing treatment for that, at this point. Cheesh...that could differ tomorrow, if it follows the changes made of late.

Next plan of treatment, is and will be done on the legs, after at least two more weeks of total restriction, both for gathering some physical strength back, and to give the fractures a bit more time as well. They will not heal completely, anymore than my ribs, or my hand did, but should gain a little more strength by then with strict following of orders. The mri today, because of the new fracture suspected, and other complications, took near 2 and a half hours...they had to pull me out of there twice...total loss of feeling and cirulation surrounding all of the above mentioned..they do call me a "project" :)

In two weeks time, they will go to work on my legs..yes..I will still be bionic :) They cannot however do both at the same time. The right one is scheduled first, and because of all the other "stuffens" going on...there will be a hospital stay. Then sometime after that, and some healing....they will do the other leg.

I never have been an "easy or boring" case to date...so why would I disappoint them now! ;) I believe I have covered everything I can, and explained it to the best of my ability. So I won't bug ya with too much more boring info...of course going ..day by day!! the way this has proceeded for a couple of weeks.

I have been permanently retired now from all 4 of my positions. The most heartbreaking of all...is to have to give up my patient advocasy...tho..they will play HELL ever stopping my phone support where needed. The second difficult will be giving up my fishing Guidette Service on the Sacramento River, not something most of you knew here..a couple did...the rest of I will deal with one at a time.

Thank you so much for your support. I will never be able to repay enough.

Keep smilin'!

:(

That is a lot of bad news to get in one shot

I know having to give up those things you love, especially all your volunteer work, the helping people, is the hardest bit for you to accept. I know that not running the guide service this year was pretty hard on you too.

I'm sorry to hear the cement job can't be done. However, I am glad you've taken a positive view on the brace.... especially since it's painful to wear. :(

Hopefully they come up w/ something better for the osteoporosis :(

At least you'll get the bionic legs...

You know you have my support whenever you need it, and my prayers continue.

Hang in there Misty.

Hey gal!

At least I am feeling! ;) Twas kinda spooky on that mri table when I lost all feeling and sensation from my neck to my knees, which has all returned now. I have been spending some time re prioritizing all that is allowed now, and all that is not, a severe life style change no matter which part I work with at this point. Setting some new attainable goals in my life...the last of which were shattered in that last visit, which were my return to fishing and my dancing, neither attainable now. A baby crawls, before they can walk, eh? So the new smile there is...I will be able to walk again...if in fact they do not find something else to prevent the leg surgery soon. Trying to not stay stuck in the problem, but put all those energies into the solution...with what I have to work with. My support for my breast cancer patients, they cannot take away from me...my phone is open to them still 24/7, for that I am grateful...extremely.

In deep reflection, this particular part has helped more than anything else at the moment. The body is just a shell...nice to have it in good running order...however...the body is NOT the essense of a person by the slightest measure. The MIND....is what keeps a person active, the spirit and the soul..and whoever you are, alive. If you lose that...you have lost the person. Mine is still with me...be nice now! I can at the very least turn all these experiences to help both myself and pass that on to others. It is my belief that is why I am on this path at this very moment. There has never been a single thing happen to me in my lifetime...that I have not been able to turn. It may take some time...and some heavy changes,..but I will turn this one as well...the power of the mind is an incredible precious tool!

I still have my puters, I still have my folding projects, I still have the capacity to do all the research I wish to do now, and always wished I had more time to do so...that has now been granted...maybe not the way I would have asked for it...but it is yet another gift I so appreciate.

I will now have the time and space to return to an old time love of mine as well....and that is my writing, my poetry, childrens stories...which has been shelved for years. I can take some on line courses to further add to my knowledge banks, build some valuable skills as well. God NEVER shuts a door, but that he opens a window, iffen ya care to take a peek!

Thanks! :p

Thanks Guys!

On to the next project..to the bionic legs! Cheesh! Surgery set up will be done in approximately a week, when I visit the Dr. again. They did want to add a little more healing time with the fractures before proceeding on. I am almost afraid to think that SOMETHING finally might get done! Maybe I can't dance for awhile....but a lovely walk would do nicely! :p

I finished writing up this poem this morning, in the fondest hope, that it may give courage and support to anyone who has or will be facing a crisis in their lives, be it physical or mental, or seemingly overwhelming at the moment. There is always hope, and choices...should we care to look and ask, and share. :p

Shattered Dreams, The Transition

Shattered dreams, fears of sorrow
Changes in progress will there be a tomorrow?
A mind full of doubt, spirit flying on broken wing.
Questions unanswered, to my faith let me cling.

Tears streaming softly in un-ending showers,
Eroding my structure, once strong as the towers.
Skies now seem darkened, the stars have grown blind,
Is this my fate? This confusion of mind?

Shattered dreams, scattered towns,
Burning bridges, crossing into the unknown
Paths of uncertainty, beckoning me follow;
Doubts of my destiny, emotions feeling hollow.

Far reaching corridors of unknown places.
Filled with so many , many strange faces,
A body once bouncey and agile, now turned bent and fragile.
This cannot be me.......Lord, please help me see.

A voice from within, whispering softly and sweet
Return with me now, to a long forgotten street,
New horizens awaiting, where once you have trod.
I knew in a moment, t'was the voice of God.

Return to your writings, hone in on your skills,
There you will flourish, without earthly ills,
Reach out to others, bring a smile, share a tear;
Dismiss all your wonders, for I am always here.

Those stars are now blinking, Angels are winking,
My mind no longer a jumble, I am so gratefully humble.
A re-newed purpose for living, in sharing and giving;
No room for sorrow, new joy in tomorrow.

A little rant here

I got a call late yesterday afternoon from the hospital that I will be having my leg surgery at. Seems they have "lost" some blood work reports. I realize working with 4 different providers, and specialists, that my files could get scattered around and have..but how the hell does someone "misplace" a 7 vile, 12 panel report!! My question to them, well...did you contact any of the Drs? All should have copies of that, and or the drawing station. Geezofratz!! I have to do their job as well? This is spooky!!!

End of rant for the day.

They found them this morning. They were ONLY in 5 seperate places!...but I had to go into the Dr.s office....the closest one...and sign a release for the hospital to in fact receive a copy. Did they really think this surgery was going to be done in a park or somethin'? Unreal!!!

ARGHHH!!!! I had an upper back exray while in signing those release forms, after complaining of high back pain now on the left side, and heavy muscle spasming today. Confirmed...the hair line fracture has now broken as well, 3 now, and still basically nothing they can do but the brace. Just call me Miss Rice Krispy I suppose...snap, crackle, pop!

Thanks ever so much for the reminder!! Hugzz for that!! Wednesday it appears, is the new appointment to set up surgery for the legs. God Grant Me Patience...RIGHT NOW!! Thanks gal
