I'll be staying at the Days Inn Mystic. In other words, I'm in.

heads up, the marriott in mystic is very nice.. and i think its cheaper then the days inn. Stayed at the days inn in "next door neighbor" Old Lyme, it cost me 92 dollars after taxes and was no better then a motel 6. Merriott in mystic was 102. totally worth the 10 extra $$.

I fly in friday night and leave sunday afternoon. So I have some time to wander around other than the BBQ.

How far away are the gambling casinos? And should I go to foxwoods or mouhutmahout or whatever it's called or are they both tourist traps from hell?

Anyone? anyone? Bueller?

Mashantucket/Foxwoods (that's the biggie)...is quite close to me. If you can follow directions well...I can give you good ones for the back roads..you'll get there almost as straight as the crow flies..like in Pete's Google map above. About 10-15 minutes. Or...you can get back on 95 North (but actually traveling east-north east)...go north 2 exits..then do an almost 180 and travel back west on Rt 2....that's the main route..the easy route..the advertised route. About 25-30 minutes.

Just a few side notes....

I have 1x futon, and 2x couches. 3x rooms to sleep in.

Futon is called for by Lefty.....unless he's bringing camping gear which he deems more comfy, thus he'd give up his rights to the futon...

leaving 2x full sized couches..not bad for sleeping on

And plenty of floorspace if peeps have cots, sleeping bags, tents for the backyard...etc.

If insisting on a hotel...doing a Google search for Mystic Hotels, Hotels Mystic CT, etc..will yield good results. Any of them located on Route 27, Greenmanville Ave, Whitehall Avenue, Coogan Blvd...are all in a small area right by the Mystic Marinelife Aquarium...right off I-95..minutes from my house. There's a Mystic Hilton, plenty of those generic Days Inne/Comfort Inn/Marriot/Residence Inn chains. The Inn at Mystic is another good one. Taber Motor Inn too.

Again...Friday night arrival is cool, can plan on a good breakfast Sat morning, and Sun morning.

My time Friday is still up in the air..but doing my best to be free from noon-ish on.

I often wonder if the voices in my head ever get frustrated because I'm just too damn lazy to climb that clock tower.

Cat says 1pmish is fine. I got here round 3:30. We have been shopping, geocaching and are about to cook up some steaks. The weather is perfect. We have officially started the meet.
