I was going to post a link to that thread, but the SG search results for "bullsh|t" were too numerous

sometimes you have to think outside the box to get inside the box ;).

The kidney is functioning less then 25%. The surgeon is going to go in and see if the kidney is any better then what the scan showed. If it is, he'll repair the defect. If it's as bad or worse then shown, complete left kidney removal will be done.

There it is folks. Now the real nervousness starts.

:( Very difficult times for you and yours at the moment. I think the waiting is the most terrifying part of any health situation...because nothing is being done. Stay strong for each other. More prayers on the way.

Quickie Update: Just stopped home to get more O2, let the cat out, get the mail and take a short nap, then go back.

Surgery is over. The surgeon spared the kidney and performed the repair instead. Apparently, there was a group of blood vessels strangling part of the renal pelvis. He untangled and relocated them, then placed a new stent to open the blockage. He said she only has 25 to 30% of the kidney functioning and that it will not get better, but it is functioning and would rather leave it be. At this time, the blockage is no more, but were awaiting the results of what has been done to see how well it works. Her blood platelet count is high for some reason and he wants to bring a Hematologist in to check on that. She should be in the hospital for 5 to 7 days and then out of work for 6 weeks.

For those of you expecting a phone call from me----Please be patient. I'm exhausted and may not get those calls made this evening. I've got to crash for an hour or two now and get back up there.

Thank you for all of your prayers, cards, and help during this very stressful time for the both of us.

Love,
Ross and Lyn

Ross, I said a prayer for you and your family tonight. I'm very sorry I missed this, not knowing who Ross (you) were. My bad. God bless you all.

Well they did away with the PCA pump after I left and started her on Demerol. Big difference. Not as dopey, no nausea and seemed to hold the pain at bay. They stopped her I.V.'s altogether yesterday, pulled the penrose drain out of the kidney and had her eating REAL food. Looks like she's coming home today!
