I bought my last computer online from Dell. I usually don't buy large expensive items online .....in case I want to return.. would get stuck for the freight.
I bought my first computer local at Computer City.. A good thing for I returned two of them, they were IBM, really nothing wrong with the computer.. It was the way IBM had set up the Server IBM Globa Network. Also the big reason was due to me being new to computers.
Buying local does have some advantages.

For the Canadian's on here I have had nothing but good service from PC Canada. If you live close to Toronto then you might want to check these guys out. They ship within 2 buisness days but I have always gotten it sooner and the prices a hard to beat.

online purchases from?
Philip and I were talking and I was telling him that an ad from "New Egg" may benefit SG as I see many of you order from there.
Let us know where you shop online and we may be able to get a direct ad link from them.
This would make it easy for you and help SG at the same time.
So tell us where.
Everyone please participate as we need to get an idea of where the best places are, how many would use the link, etc...
Thanks a lot!!!!

I always compare prices between http://www.pricewatch.com and http://www.pricegrabber.com
I order between $8000 and $12000 worth of hardware a year (mostly for on-site customer support) online.
My favorites are probably:
http://www.compuplus.com (many times the cheapest)
http://www.newegg.com (usually the second cheapest for EVERYTHING and best order processing EVER!)
http://www.computershopper.com (found some goodies, but haven't used them for too long)
http://www.googlegear.com (haven't used in a while but decent processor prices.)
