I'm not putting Sony cameras down. They make great cameras. I've not seen many of them fail.

Went with the original camera I posted, the XSi

Didn't read anything you said to be of that intent. It's all good. There's a strong possibility that I would have gone with canon myself if I hadn't already had a number of minolta lenses from my film days. I may even still get one down the road at some point. What matters is what camera feels right for you and you enjoy the hobby :)

woohoo Humboldt! Now I've got a "DSLR Newbie" buddy on SG :D I've been having so much fun with my T1i - it's amazing. I downloaded an e-book on DSLR Photography and I'm reading through it every night... I really want to get out of the auto zone (even tho it takes amazing pics on it's own), and know what I'm doing with all the different settings.

Have fun w/yr new camera :)

You'll love it, I'd bet. :thumb:

Was Looking at a 10 MP Canon dSLR in Walmart yesterday, the XS or something, and an Olympus dSLR. They sure seem to look more flimsy all the time but they should hold out good. Even the new BMW cars look flimsy these days. It seemed to be very light too, compared to 300D D Rebel.

They also had a Sony dSLR, the A230 I think it was. Looked really stripped down and felt lightweight. I think they wanted $599 for it. :)

Take a look at these books. Very helpful.

http://www.amazon.com/Digital-Photograp ... 437&sr=1-6

There are 3 in this series now and I have read the first book (below) very good.

Quataray makes a decent tripod as well.

:nope:

Ordered Tuesday night I think.

Got it and set the battery to charge first thing, then realized that of course it didn't come with a memory card :D I should've looked around at the description more but none were offered as part of a bundle or anything. Eh.

Ran down to Costco and grabbed a 2pk of 4 GB SD cards. My HP is too old to consider, the Olympus takes XD, the sweet Sony from my ex takes Memory Stick.

Too dark to do much once I got back. Looking forward to finding some time to get out.

Nice color delineation in that 1st one with the blue toy in his mouth.

I got a hold of a nice used Rebel XT and I can't help but like it better than the D Rebel. It's smaller, lighter, and faster. This is probably about the 6th XT I've had. I wouldn't mind moving up to an XTi, XS, or XSi someday. It would help if the economy improved. :)

10 MP is plenty for me. 15 or 20 would be too much AFAIC.
