Finally, someone who echoes my sentiments. I liked his music up to Thriller - musically after that, he got boring. It's all the accusations of child molestation that bother me. Sure, he was acquitted on some of the charges. Oj was acquitted, too. There's also the boy he settled with rather than go to court. If I were accused of something like that, I'd go to court and spend my last dime trying to prove my innocence. I believe he DID molest kids... therefore I feel no sadness that he's gone.Mark wrote:looks like he is dead after all
boo hoo hoo, another pedophile is gone, sorry but i just can't get emotional over this news.

The thing I come back to is this - take away his musical talent, and pretend he's just Joe Blow - Joe Blow who was accused multiple times of child molestation, said it was perfectly ok to sleep in a bed with little kids, settled rather than fought a molestation charge. Would you be sad for Joe Blow's death?
I'll never understand how something as ephemeral as some hit songs can make people be on the side of someone who's hurt little kids.
I'm not saying kids never lie... but what bothers me is that there were multiple accusations of abuse.. not just one. And the fact that he settled. As for OJ, I believe he's guilty, but obviously I don't know for sure he is, just like I don't know for sure Michael abused kids. I believe he did though.JawZ wrote:Oj was acquitted and you still think he's a murderer correct? So if MJ went to trial and was acquitted, it still would have been a much broader exposure period and if found innocent, people would still think that he did it because kids never lie correct?
Do I think he was weird enough to do crap like that...yep, but I can't prove it. MJ obviously had a competent legal defense team/army working on his behalf and so did the prosecution. If the prosecution felt it had an ironclad case, I'm not so sure it would have allowed the case to be settled out of court.
In any case, the dude had issues and I think that there will be more to the story behind his death than what we know now. there almost always is. Look at Carradine's death for example.

I'm sure you can respect the man a little and the thread without trying to kick him while he's getting put in the casket.9mmprincess wrote:I came across a retrospective of MJ's life last night, I think on CNN, and I stopped to watch for a bit. They spoke to a police detective, who said that one of the boys who said he was molested correctly identified a mark on MJ's genitals. He also said that although MJ had incredible security outside his house, he also had an alarm in the hallway that led to his bedroom. The cop said he's seen this in other pedophile's houses - the alarm goes off in the bedroom to let Michael know someone's in the hall. HOw could that be a security alarm? Once someone's a minute or two from your door, there's not much you can do. The cop saw it more as an alarm letting MJ know that someone waas coming, so he could stop any illicit activities with someone underage, before someone walked in on him.
There's more, but those two, plus the multiple allegations, are more than enough for me. The officer also said during a search they found books with photos of nude children. Not child porn types, but just like a collection of pics like families would take of their kid in the bath or at the beach or whatever. A whole book of them.
It sure seems to be.Sava700 wrote:This issue isn't up for discussion.

The divergent perspectives are a testament to our respective ages.

....Boys underwear....1/2 off!!!
Even an old timer can have that perspective.
Actually someone else brought it up, I was just responding. Wasn't aware certain issues were "off limits" here, but since you're obviously upset, I'll say no more. I wasn't trying to "kick" anyone though, or "disrespect" the thread - just have a discussion.Sava700 wrote:This issue isn't up for discussion regardless what you think he did or what you believe.... its really about his cardiac arrest and now death from it.
I'm sure you can respect the man a little and the thread without trying to kick him while he's getting put in the casket.

What Guinness record did he set as far as philanthropy...I've never seen his name in the top 10.Gixxer wrote: Jackson donated and raised millions of dollars for beneficial causes through his foundations, charity singles, and support of 39 charities (which is a guiness record).
the number of charities supported is the record.YeOldeStonecat wrote:What Guinness record did he set as far as philanthropy...I've never seen his name in the top 10.
i heard it on a radio show that was talking about how everyone is bashing MJ and then they pointed out some of his achievements that people choose to "forget or plain not mention". whether that meant then or now i don't know, but nonetheless, at one point be it now or then he was more than giving.YeOldeStonecat wrote:39? Who decided that set a record? I've overheard single meetings of a big foundation I take care of that approves donations for huge amounts of charities. I'd expect a Guinness worthy number to easily be in the hundreds ..if not thousands.
