Know what makes my head want to explode? Trying to wrap around the concept of infinity and the universe. That, and the afterlife.

Stick around and have a good time. You will see math is not something usually discussed as it doesn't have much to do with what goes on around here.
Thats a laugh. Tell me What does anything have to do with what goes on around here?

1st thing you'll learn is this place is full of sarcasm, if you want help quickly the best solution would be to try another forum. sorry.

Actually, some math and physics threads pop up from time to time. There are a few members with the skill set to offer answers.

Questions such as the one posed have no bearing & use in the work world. It's not like a technician will have apply math formulas to determine why a network is having trouble. This math may have some applicability of one is designing & building network equipment from scratch.

Reminds me of that new Naval officer who boards a freighter w/ sliderule in hand calculating how much coal the bin will safely hold & how much coal will be needed to fuel the ship for its journey. Then a lowly deck hand walks by and says, " fill the bin up to that line that's painted there on the side of the coal bin".
I would imagine that a good many Degree and Masters' professors have worked in the real-world in their area of expertise. This is certainly the case for my university professor (in networking). If one is simply going to become a network technician, resolving network issues and setting up networks, then sure, formulas and mathematics isn't necessary, but then, neither is a degree, let alone a masters. Anyway, the idea is to get an understanding of exactly how things work on a low-level scale, not just a general high-level understanding.
