Croc... I will calm down Sir..when and long after protocol has been abolished! This is not the time for politics between countries...this is the time for action, assistance and HELP!!...then work out the details. I do understand what you are suggesting...I just do not happen to agree...as a citizen of this country,

As is your right Tynk. The rules are yours, not ours.
The abolishing has to come from your end tho. You are the ones in need of assistance and we are there for you guys, along with a host of other nations.
We have the people here on standby...... with a plane.... on standby.
I am also very sure the US authorities are not sitting on their hands in a state of total confusion even tho it may appear that way. UOD seems to be up to speed on this.

Also, from what I have seen of the very extensive coverage by the media, it's all about the bad things going on (not that there's much good stuff) in NO.

We're on the same side Tynk. :thumb:
I've been in a flood. I do know what's happening there and it is frightening.

Hi Dan, cyberskye

Dan
To move Troops and equipment closer may well have put them in harms way as well Dan. The fact also remains to move massive amounts of anything without a definitive plan takes huge resources, such as Food, Bedding, Fuel etc. It is probably best they did what the did. Also many of those who are their now where probably somewhere else at the time and had to Group Up, so operations could begin.

--

cyberskye
As you state, the needs will be met and help accepted once the hidden becomes obvious and the first things needed to do so are regained.

--

Jamie_R
Then you'd be in real trouble Jamie_R :rotfl:
Best we leave it to the Pros

--

Misty
Condoleezza Rice was on CNN Thanking the Many Countries who had offered assistance and more coming in every minute. Others are willing, but until needs and equipment are established by your Government the hands of those willing to help are tied, till released.

That is happening now as the US Government are getting the proper information as to What & Where help is needed and who is best suited to call upon.

Your Government have been asking for and receiving Inventories of what others can supply and now have a Plan in action that will ease the burden of this disaster. Only so much can be done immediately and then there is a chain of events that must take place in order that both money, people, equipment and help are not wasted or ill used.

it's not like it was an earthquake or bombing that was 100% surprise.

This is what bothers me more then anything. I do thank Canada and all other countries that are coming to our aid.

I am more pisst off at our own federal govt and our President. It makes no sense why it took so long to get our own troops there.

They had plenty of time to be better prepared. It just makes no sense.

Good luck Tynk. :p
Pre 9/11 you may have been heard and made a difference but just allowing foreign nationals in for relief work now I believe is going to be a big ask.
9/11 changed the rules forever.
I wish you well. :D :thumb:

Hi Ghosthunter & MissTynker

Ghosthunter
It is a massive situation Ghosthunter and getting all the right information is never easy at the best of times, let alone now.

Personally i think CNN and Other News Media are doing a poor job of conveying the true situation on the ground as they are limited as to where they can go and keep showing the same scenarios over and over again. most where there are trouble spots and no one to help, yet they have no idea what is taking place elsewhere and why. Sensationalism at its worst imho.

To undertake this rescue is beyond the belief of most whose knowledge of logistics is sorely lacking. Mistakes are and will unfortunately be made, but as time goes on they will be corrected. Unfortunately many will suffer because of these things, but that is why they are referred to as disasters.

I doubt anyone could envision such disaster, much less be prepared for it at a moments notice. Hard to see and harder yet to accept, but a fact none the less. I would venture to say no one in Authority is sleeping on the job.

MissTynker
Each Country has its sanctity and they cannot simply be broached without permission, or all hell would break loose.

Envision 40 Naval Vessels spotted on Radar, bearing Chinese identification closing in on the USA without a proper warning and invitation. Chaos

Military Aircraft closing in from Russia, spotted.

It simply cannot be done that way, nor should it be. Panic would ensue without doubt and a Goodwill gesture might well start a conflict then and their.

Protocol, rules followed, invitations extended, needs specified, locations given, etc. are a must, so they can organize and use all help and materials to their best advantage.

Remember this is not simply for now, but for the months that follow as well. It will be a Disaster that till now was unknown to the USA and when over, there will be time to assess and lay blame, should blame need be made.

One thing is certain they will get better at it as times goes on and will learn from it and better prepared should it reoccure their or elsewhere again.

A Beer would be good. :thumb:

There are many offers flooding into the USA according to our News Media and Government releases. The US is evaluating what they need and where and will respond when sorted out.

--

Croc
I think the offers are much appreciated Croc, but no sense rushing in things they already have or are unable to employ at the moment. When the logistics are sorted out they will undoubtedly take advantage of others generosity.

Whats needed most i think is Cash.

--

Gentry
Opening a Newspaper might supply you with what is happening around the Globe. Foreign powers cannot simply walk across the border or fly in on their own. Permission is needed from the US Government.

As to the rest of your remarks aimed at Canada and Other Countries, they are unnecessary, ignorant and insulting. Congrats you've just made it onto my ignore list first shot, A Hole.

I tell you what MINIR, you keep reading you're newspapers and forming your dum**** opinion, and I'll keep having a realistic and truthfull opinion. I don't buy, or believe anything any damn newspaper prints, anywhere. Unlike you people, who seem to believe anything anyone else says. It's too easy, to say "Oh President Bush hasn't done what he should have, blah blah blah" What you idiots should be saying is, "You know, if I lived in New Orleans, and they told me a friggin' Gigantic Hurricane, that will most likely annihilate your entire city is on it's way, maybe, just maybe, we should think about leaving the mother**cking city". How damn dare you people, who obviousely aren't in touch with reality, set here on this damn forum, and post some suck d**k sh*t, to someone you wouldn't even know if you passed them on the street, about how you really appreciate his kind words, as if you are currently displaced by the Hurricane, or you have any idea what it feels like to do without, or to sacrifice anything worthy in your pathetic life. You people, unfortunately, are what make up the majority of this world. A bunch of live and let live ******s, who would just as soon turn the other cheek and take it up the a**, than stand for anything worthwhile. I honestly hope that any of you who honestly think you could do a better job than President Bush, run for office yourself. Otherwise STFU!! OK Gentry

If you don't read newspapers (and probably don't watch tv news) where or where do you get your oh so 100% reliable news? It must come from some source. Is it your mommy? Or maybe your dog talks to you?

I don't get where all your hostility is coming from? A tragedy has happened. People around the world are willing and waiting for the OK to help. So what exactly is your problem? Post up a thread and let it out. But don’t crap all over minir’ thread with this BS you ungrateful, bitter POS.

Though on my Ignore list i could not help but see what you stated, by others Quoting your post.

Surely the US Marine Corp. has not sunk that low to accept someone of your obvious mental limitations. I thought they had standards that precluded morons from joining the Service. It must be a real challenge to Serve with someone who doesn't possess the ability to separate Sh*t from Shinola.

Oh well, seeing as how you've put down your Crayons long enough to post here, i have a suggestion you'd no doubt enjoy.
