Re. Win 32 error

Post by kd5nm »

I had the same problem, when I would close the Win 32 I would get an Data Execution prevention error message, closing it would take me back to the win 32 tab. After trying all the fixes and advice in this and other forums I tried to ignore them for awhile by dragging them off to the side of the screen. Finally one day out of frustration I started closing them in rapid succession as they would reappear. To my amazement and total joy they disappeared and have not returned. I have no explanation why this worked, but it might work for you also.

Generic error

Post by msfinney123 »

Hello, I have run all the scanners and done as Dr Tweak recommended, however I am still having the same issue. It makes my audio control give me this error "There are no active audio devices...." Like there is no audio card installed. This only happens after I receive the error Generic host process for win32 services encountered a problem, we are sorry for the inconvienience.

Here is my logfile:

I'm using win XP SP2. Some people are telling me it is related to spywares (probably not)
while others think it is because of SP2 updates. Is it true?

Could somebody please help me and how i can get rid of it

Thanks.

Easy solution for win32 services has encountered a problem

Post by chroode »

It is a malware program named NUCRP-4 that has somehow slipped past and is invisible to your antivirus/spyware. It drove me crazy shutting off my audio and not allowing me access to windows firewall and slowing down my computer and not allowing me desktop access.

I fixed it by:
a) turning off my Pc-cilliananti virus/spyware

b) procceding to http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ which is Trend micros FREE on line web based most up to date antivirus/malware/grayware/spyware/update scanner.

c) let it scan and remove the malware/grayware and cookies.

d) fe booted and re-scanned my computer with my anti virus software which could now detect the remnants of the malware and quarintined them.

e) turned off my anti virus software and did a windows update.

Problem fixed and everything works fine.

generic Host Process for Win32 Services error message

Post by sherwiner »

Well I have tried it all. Here is the logfile. Wouldn't it be nice if Mr. Gates would provide us users a list of the stuff that should be running at Windows idle (no apps running) as visible in Task Manager. Any help to remove the culprit would be immensly appreciated.

hi , i'm new to this community , but i just wanted to say that after some hard research i found out what was wrong at least with my system , it turned out to be a viurs called heap41a which hides itself in the root of C:\ if you want to get rid of that virus just do a search on google about heap41a or check out this webpage that offers a solution to the problem http://tec-updates.blogspot.com/2007/07/remove-heap41a-win32usbworm-worm.html by the way after installing the removal tool the problem disappeared in some cases and on some other computers problem presists , the best solution is to throw XP out the window and replace it with Vista like i did.
best of luck !!

Hi Guys,I dont know why people blindly folllow what poeple say be more sure what you are doing, how come you guys just follow what mnosteele52 has said to do downloading
Ad-Aware SE 1.06 and SpyBot Search & Destroy 1.4 then set them up EXACTLY as I have written HERE. This will offer much deeper scanning than the default settings that will find more spyware/malware.Install and run CWShredder 2.15.
Then do a FREE online virus scan from Kaspersky Webscan.

Dont you think he is just making you use this products ,as the problem lies in the Operating System.............

Do Just follow this technique u can get rid of it i am sure it must

Update from February-March 2007: First, try to follow the instructions at Microsoft KB 931852 related to the Catroot2 folder. If it doesn't fix your problem, try the following recipes, too.

TRY THIS ONE, IT MAY SOLVE YOURS!

1. Turn on your Windows Firewall, and turn off Automatic Updates. Even though you have turned this thing off, you still have to follow the next steps.

2. Right-click My Computer and click Services. If you want the long way around, go to Control Panel, double-click Administrative Tools, then double click Services.

3. Double-click Automatic Updates.

4. If it is running, click Stop.

5. On the Startup Type drop-down menu, select Disabled.

6. Click Apply, then click OK.

Reboot your computer and observe if the error will show up again. (Chances are, it will not do so, anymore!)

OPTIONAL: Download a copy of the SafeXP program and install it to your computer. (You can find this program on the Internet.) Once installed, open it from Control Panel, apply its recommended settings and reboot your computer.

I hope that this solution I discovered will make everyone's Windows XP SP2 free from the damn "Generic Host Process for Win32" error!

If my above fix / solution works for you, let us know as soon as possible.

Generic Host process for Win32 Services...

Post by siddharthsurana9 »

Sir,

I am a getting the same error & after that, my broadband connection got inactive. I have to restart my system to get it corrected. Moreover, when I got this message, my sound settings also gets some problem, they do not work at all.
My dealer has given me the copied version of Windows XP SP2. He has told me that the original version comes with a price tag of around Rs.5000. I am not ready to pay so much amount. I have found here in the blog that some members have got it corrected by downloading the Windows Update from Microsoft. As I dont have the guinine version, isnt it not possible that Microsoft may not update the details to me. I have bought a new Laptop & my dealer says that it comes with Vista platform, but Vista is not so good, as many older version of programs dont run properly in Vista.

Please help me how to get it corrected. I am a beginner & dont know much about computers & installations. Please guide me in shortest & simplest way in which I can cure the problem.

Please friends, help me as soon as you can. I am in a deep trouble. Moreover, I think my dealer is fooling me, by saying such things. Please correct me if I am wrong. I would be really thankful to you.

thanks in advance,
reply soon,

Sandeep,
Your post is the only one I've see in the current year - about the Generic Host Process Error. Where can I get the file you recommend? I am using Service pack 3 - and I have uninstalled all printers - because some posts said it had to do with HP print drivers - apparently not....

Generic Host Process for Win32 Services

Post by NRMD »

This problem can come due to many reasons I guess. I had this problem for a very long time and visited Microsoft web site and downloaded different patches. I followed all the instructions and tried all patches and read lot of posts and tried different things but the problem has never gone away. By reading different posts, I finally understood it could be due to some hardware lying around and trying to access my ports.

I went and checked up my printer ports: indeed I have some old printers. I removed all my old printers. Ta da! Generic Host problem went away. Well 3 months I've been reading to solve this problem and seeing lot of people blaming Microsoft. So something to try for you all.

Good luck to all my friends who are having the similar problem.

generic host process for win32 services

Post by DouguiDone »

Hi everybody, this is my first reply on that forum, i'm new.

I had the same problem, with some computers on Windows XP SP3. To resolve I uninstall SP3 than reinstall it, and I download a bunch of other windows updates missing.

Since the error message did not show up. I cross my finger.

I hope it will help someone.

Have a nice day !!

I seem to have an extremely smart version of whatever is causing my computer to get this error message. I've been running mostly in Safe Mode with Netowrking. On top of the GHP error window, I get one upon startup that says Microsoft Windows Operating System has encountered a problem. Actually, that window comes up 3 times before going away, don't know if that means anything. Then my desktop won't come up so I have to run explorer through the task manager. I'm able to run Internet Explorer with no problems except pictures won't load but that's not a big deal. I also get a lot of svchost.exe application errors. Here's the weirdest part, virtually all of the programs I've downloaded to try and help me, fail when I run them. I haven't been able to run HiJackThis once! Spybot worked and Kaspersky worked but I'm still having problems. I went to windowsupdate.com but when it was downloading the updater, Microsoft Registry server encountered a problem and the install fails. System restore fails, I can't turn on my firewall, I can't do anything. Currently I'm downloading a Post-SP2 update pack from ryanvm.net that I found in this thread. Any ideas?

I have posted this again and again and again.............. install Service Pack 3 for XP.

The majority of times this will be fixed by the latest Windows Updates, the fix for this issue is in SP3.

Generic Host Process for Win32 Services

Post by Cassius »

Hi there, i've just joined this network, and i'm also having problems with the above. and also i found that my firewall was shut down and it wouldnt let me activate it. i kept getting error 5: access denied message. and then kept losing internet connection.
my anitvirus and spyware (sophos, malwarebytes) couldnt find anything. i have since enabled the firewall but then started to get the generic host process message on startup.
does all this mean some kind of infection/hacker?
i followed dr tweaks advice here and downloaded the anti-spyware, but i can't access the link to show me how to adjust the settings for a deeper scan. when i click on the link it says i don't have permission. does anyone know how i can access that?
i ran spybot and it did find some spyware which i removed. the internet connection seems to be stable for the moment but i would very much appreciate some advice.
i do have hijackthis, but of course i'm not experienced enough to decipher it!

i would be grateful for any advice!
thank you!

Theres a lot of issue regarding the genric host error. some other say it was a virus like what you said, if it is then try to scan your pc to Kaspersky online scan, the other issue that it was a bug of windows xp sp2 try this link http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...kb;en-us;821690 or you can visit this one http://inetsolutionnet.blogspot.com/200 ... -host.html. This one was solve my problem!, or you can try to close the port 445 and port 135

Hello everyone.Im new to this forum and this is my first post.
I have had the same problem for 3 days now. I kept receiving the same frustrating message of " Generic Host Process for Win32 Services encountered a problem and needs to close" after every 2-3 mins and couldn't stay connected longer.
The toolbar on the bottom of my computer screen every now and then was changing over from blue to white as in safe mode and vice versa. and my computer had become painfully slow.
I switched from SP3 back to winXP SP2 and tried Spyware Doctor and Ad-Aware 2007 but no success gained.
but eventually i got rid of that problem :rotfl: after using the Spy Emergency 2008 which can be downloaded form here:
http://rapidshare.com/files/164738718/S ... d.com_.zip

It turned out that my computer had been infected with Trojan.win32 which was removed by Spy Emergency.
hope this works for you too. :thumb:

Hey guys, these have been really huge steps and it was tough to follow them for a lay man like me.

But I found few more solutions which were easy to follow. I tried all them and hence not sure which one works, if anyone else have same problem, please try these solutions hereand here.

The problem with my system was something related with internet connection, internet (broadband) used to disconnect after a use of some half an hour. Finally, I am using my internet for more than 3 hours for now without any problem. Thanks to internet for solutions.

MSI.DLL is evidently involved with Automatic Updates. The only way I was
able to get past this was to disable Automatic Updates through my services
and then update Windows manually. I switched Automatic Updates back on for
awhile, but then I just receive the error again several weeks later. If
anybody knows how to permanently get rid of this problem, I would love to
hear it.

Problem solved with generic host error

Even my PC used to have the same error while with Windows XP. Often I used to get disconnected from internet and I could not log in unless the system is restarted.

A tool named wwdc is responsible to solve my problem.

More details on it here: http://www.techpavan.com/2009/05/13/fix ... -solution/

You should start by installing Service Pack 3 for XP, support for XP SP2 ends soon and SP3 will likely fix your problem.
