49c is very high idle speed, especially for an AMD processor. My p4 idles at 27,28 maxes out at like 43.

it's idling at 43 now, I brought it back down to 205 FSB.

40c is about normal for stock cooling AMDs.

Hey Trev, maybe you should do some homework on CPU architecture before trying to say which CPU is faster incase your new to computers MHz and GHz is NOT a measure of speed, although the retail computer companies try to drill this into the public's head. You cannot measure chips speed in Mhz and Ghz because an XP3000+(2.1GHz) will kill an Intel P4 2.1Ghz, not a fair comparison.

Look at real world performance (Gigaflops). It's all about efficiency.

Obviously for OCing you will do better with a P4 so you can say "I got 4Ghz", oo ahh. But for actual performance and price AMD does take the title. Seperate but equal. ;)

I already know this a lower ghz AMD will run at the same speed as a higher clocked p4..... but a 5ghz Oc'ed p4 WILL be faster than a 3ghz AMD, or a 3200. Also, I'm just saying how Oc'able the p4's are.

Not that it matters but I ran sisoft against the reference P4 3.2 GHz and I beat the float scores I believe it was. The P4 beat me on one and I beat it on one. Dunno how reliable sisift is though

AMDs go head to head with p4s... at LOWER speeds... he was just talking to me like I knew nothign about the subject... without even knowing.
