There is absolute truth, in your particular context. However, my truth is the ancient truth, arche in greek.

I'm just thinking that the usuage of the word truth is different from my usuage. I'm not thinking of mathematical truth or political truth or something within a context but more of a general/abstract truth. My truth is the truth where all thing comes from, in other words the orgin. Where everything is based from and where all things are derived from. The basis for everything, not the "right" or "wrong" of a particular subject or topic. It's the grand daddy of everything. If one can find my truth one will be able to answer all questions, in theory, of anything since it is based on it.

I don't agree with Mehmet but what I think I know what he is trying to say.

Earlier today on ABC or CNN, they did a story about another soldier in Lynch's group that single-handily fought and killed 8-9 Iraq's and this was done while being shot a couple times. He was trying to buy time for the others to escape. Matter of fact all the radio transmissions about being shot and stabbed during the fire fight were about HIM but this got confused and everyone thought they were talking about Lynch (thus the hero story began). The news story went on to say, "why we never heard anything about this and Lynch got all the glory") That soldier was killed.

So who deserves all the medals? Both of them! She did her duty, maybe not as on the same scale as her fellow soldier that died but it was not a piece of cake for her either.

Unfortunately no, I don't see your point. IMO, Mehmet didn't threaten you or anybody else. He simply expressed his opinion about Jessica Lynch. I certainly don't think he threatened her, did he?

What was her crime that is befitting death? I can understand the symbolism, however she is only a pawn. If you have an issue with the war, you should focus your ire on the men who were responsible for it.

Absolutely.

If I were to say that this war is unjustified, and can only serve to damage our prestige in this world, I would be both. John is correct in that for oil alone, this was a victory. If we have become an empire who openly subjugates the sovereignty of weaker nations for their natural resources, should we still be calling this country moral?

Just some thoughts...
