Hi *cho*]

People are showing little respect at Sporting Events of late and it is not right imho.

Sportsmanship should be taught early on and respected by all.

How must this recent event affect the Canadian Players on the San Jose Team for example.

A couple of Beers and conduct like this seems to follow. Shame on all who act in such a manner.

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- San Jose's mayor apologized yesterday for the behaviour of Sharks fans who loudly booed the Canadian national anthem before Game 5 of the second-round playoff series against the Edmonton Oilers.

"This showed a lack of respect to our Canadian neighbours, to the players of both teams, and to our own residents," Mayor Ron Gonzales said.

"I sincerely hope that this occurrence of bad behaviour by a small number of fans is an aberration caused by misplaced enthusiasm and an ignorance of the expected courtesy that we should extend to all teams and players in every stadium, ballpark and arena."

The booing Sunday night started from the opening of singer Annmarie Martin's rendition of O Canada

8-4.

The Sharks really tanked offensively, but I'm glad to see Edmonton go on. It always feels a little bit less like hockey once all the Canadian teams are out.

Next round is hard because I really want Buffalo and Edmonton to win. Buffalo/Carolina should be close, but Carolina is probably a slight favorite. Out west, Anaheim is probably the favorite after dominating last round.

The west has been awesome...total underdog match up Ducks vs Oilers. Good to see the lower teir teams beat the crap outta the higher teir ones, makes for more interesting hockey I think.

ugh...not my night, obviously. i can't believe we got eliminated :(

i'll root for the Ducks over Edmonton, and i always root for Carolina. For the cup, i don't know who i want to win...don't really care anymore :/

Ducks/Oilers - Ducks

I'd love to see a Canadian team in the Stanley Cup, but Anaheim is well rested, has home ice and a hot goaltender.

Hurricanes/Sabres - Sabres

Just don't like the Canes. :D

Not for long I hope :D No one wants Buffalo to win, but thank god you don't win games on hopes and wishes. We are actually a pretty large hockey town. We sold out tickets in something like 3 minutes. Carolina still has tickets on sale I hear.

Tonight should tell whats happening their. If they lose tonight its pretty much over for them i think. I still like their chances but as i feared the Sabers Goaltending is giving them fits.

Should be a good one. 7:30EST.

Man, Buffalo played HORRIBLE and still managed to keep it a 3-4 game. I'm still confident as long as we play better next game.

Tampa locks up Richards
By SUN WIRE SERVICES AND SUN MEDIA

The Tampa Bay Lightning signed their top playmaker to a long-term deal yesterday -- and he didn't come cheap.

The Lightning inked centre Brad Richards to a $39-million US, five-year contract extension, making him the second-highest paid player in the NHL. The 26-year-old made $3.4 million this season, and could have taken the team to salary arbitration in the off-season.

He was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of next season, but said he had no intentions of leaving Tampa.

"I didn't want to put in a long summer dealing with this," Richards said from Tampa, Fla. "I had my mind pretty much set that I wanted to be here. I didn't want to start a war. It just went really well."

The slick passer will average $7.8 million over the course of his new deal. Only New York Rangers forward Jaromir Jagr ($8.36 million) draws a bigger paycheque -- heady company for a player with just five NHL seasons under his belt.

"I'm just going to do what I do regularly," Richards said . "I'm going to try not to think about it too much.

CRAWFORD LANDS IN L.A.

The Los Angeles Kings hired Marc Crawford as their new coach.

Crawford replaces John Torchetti, who coached the final 12 games after Andy Murray was fired.

Crawford signed a multiyear deal. Terms weren't disclosed.

haha...i have a friend who lives in/near Edmonton, and she said the other night when they won it was crazy over there-people pouring into the streets, yelling and cheering-and they haven't even won the Cup yet! She said the busses weren't even running. i guess Canadians do love their hockey :D

i've got a grudge against the Oilers now..if it ends up Oilers/Buffalo (which it probably will) then i'll root for Buffalo..but ideally i'd like Carolina to come back and win...

Hi 9mmprincess

Don't give up on the Canes just yet. It could be a long Series imho.

Edmonton loves their Hockey going back to the Gretzky , Messier era. They are arch rivals of Calgary for bragging rights in Alberta and this year the Oil have come through.

The Fans go nuts from start to finish. They Cheer the USA Anthem and Sing the Canadian one and from there it gets wilder. They were clocking between 106 to 114 Decibels in the arena the last game with the fans CHEERING. :rotfl:

If they Win tonight which they probably will, they'll just go crazy.

Edmonton is very fortunate to be up 3-0, they've been outshot, outhit and generally outplayed for much of the series. But I guess you can't argue with results.

Hopefully we get Edmonton vs. Buffalo, not Anaheim vs Carolina.

Pshh, we are up 3-1 and we lose. We better get are freakin act together. One last chance...

It kills me to watch, because when we bring our game, we are the better team IMO. First the shutout, now we lose after having a 3-1 lead.

Oh 2 B the mayor of calgary.

After that fiasco, i asked certain co workers, my money, my question?

I'm really friendy when you get 2 no me

R U kidding?, Toronto Maple Leafs win the cup?, this city will be shut down for 3 days????

I don't hink so

Allow a law, you scream stop that!, and thats it, you can go back to your cheesburger now?

I'm with the BC thing, from Toronto. Stupid.

They did win though?

Alright...So a lot of posts ago I said Detroit takes it all.

k.

I was wrong.

Buffalo, the more I watch them, the more I want them to take the cup.
Miller is amazing. Briere is so fast and has a wicked shot, and welcome to scenic Pomenville.

Don't like Buffalo fans (present company excluded) on talk radio, though. Worse than any Toronto fan by a long shot.

Go Buffalo!

BTW...Hey minir.

We resigned McCabe and Lindros. Good? Bad?....Ugly?

Come on Buffalo!

It's hard to imagine them being bigger underdogs, playing on the road with a depleted defensive core. They better stay out of the box.

Wow, that deflection was HORRIBLE. I know it happens, but thats probably the worst I seen. Carolina should be thanking god they are up 1.
