crap i accidentally installed some dialer :(
well somehow i installed some net dialer. I dont think it was a auto dialer because when i was surfing around i found this ilttle pic in my toolbar and it had a login and connect screen pop up..
my question is, is there any damage that could have been done by this?
I did not connect it and uninstalled it right away, but im kinda worried about it.. anyone have any experience with these?
I have za pro, would it have alerted me if the thing had tried dialing out, or are they more sneaky than that?

ZoneAlarm would have alerted you.

Download Ad-Aware 6 and run it.. also run Spybot Search & Destroy if you can find it on the web. Both very good programs that will remove the **** that the uninstaller didn't.

So trade that typical for something colorful, and if it's crazy live a little crazy!
well i did as you suggested and found two of the little bastards on my machine.. this install of xp is less than a week old!
is there anyway I can prevent this from happening again? I think it was from one of those stupid popup installers that you have to click to close it and it actually counts it as ok instead of go away..
know the ones im talking about?
btw, thanks for the help

anyone know a good proggie to ban cookies from websites that you select?
for example of i go to cnnsi.com and dont want cookies, a nice program that lets me click the dont allow cookies from this website button would be great.
kinda like the button on popup stopper that lets you add popups from certain sites

CookieWall is installed here and it gives you the option to "Prompt" when a cookie comes calling.
You just select what you want to do with the cookie as it arrives.
The ones you select for deletion won't make it to your cookie folder but they will mirror to the Temp Internet file. These are not active.
CookieJar should also give similar options but I have yet to try it. AnalogX has a good rep for these small apps.
There is a new AV program called GAV which has yet to be Beta released that has most of the dialers added to it's detection list. It's a bit early yet to play with it but on release it should be a great program.
Hope this helps.
