Help!

Post by RiderGZ »

Here is my problem. I am always stuck with packetloss the size of 2.3 - 3.2 % all day and every second of my life. My cable service upgraded and my ping was a stable 90ms with 0.0 connecting to a California gaming sever. 2-3 Months later ploss came back (I had packetloss problems on my other computer, same service). My ping hardley even gets to 110ms ping now. I am stuck with 150ms ping(not really big deal). The ploss came and stayed. I also get ping spikes up to 2k. These ping spikes will stay around for a hour and go will stop. I don't if my ISP is doing this or my OS. If it could by my configuration please state all you can state. Thanks Alot inf Advance. For a little more information about my config here :

TCP options string = 020405ac01010402

MTU = 1492
MTU is optimized for PPoE DSL broadband. If not, consider raising MTU to 1500 for optimal throughput.

MSS = 1452
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1452, which equals MSS.
MSS is optimized for PPPoE DSL broadband. If not, consider raising MTU to 1500 for maximum throughput.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 17424
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 17424
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
511104 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
255552 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
127776 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
63888 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 696.96 kbps (87.12 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 278.784 kbps (34.848 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
Consider increasing your RWIN value to optimize TCP/IP for broadband.

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 117 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

Please write back on what i should change in my config.

Computer Info: 512mb ram, 1.8 ghz, 80 gig harddrive,

It is not a big company. It is rather a local area that gives service for cable around where i live (nyc,bronx). It is community home enterainment(chesma). So you prob wont have any idea on the caps. I can give you a copy and paste sheet of my pings connecting to gaming server. Currently I am having those annoying spikes at the moment.
