mobo/cpu support

Post by tenacious e »

basically

i have a motherboard as it is now it supports up to 1.3ghz. its never been used so no bios upgrade has been made for future cpu support. will this motherboard boot with a cpu that exceeds specification?

secondly will it boot with no cpu at all so that i may upgrade the bios?

A) I wouldn`t have thought that it`ll boot with no CPU, however...
B) I would think it would boot with any (suitable) processor in order for you to upgrade/update the BIOS

I once had a K7S5A from ECS (crap I know) and that would only support up to a 1.4Ghz Athlon and as I was only using a 1.2Ghz at the time that was fine but a quick flash of the BIOS later and it would support up to a 2200XP

I`ve since upgraded to an EPOX 8K3A and I`m much happier with that!!
