ISB SOHO--How to port Forward?

Post by Rampage2884 »

The "Special Applications" screen (port forwarding screen) is so difficult to configure with this router. I have an application called Blubster and it says that I must open ports 41170 to 41350... where do I put these? I dont know if I have to put them in the Incoming or Outgoing protocols or if I have to use TCP or UDP. Can someone help me with this... I also have the same problem with Kazza Lite.. I 'm downloading slower with a router then without.

Can someone please help me out.

Thank you so much.

Port forwarding only affects inbound traffic. Port FILTERING is used to block outbound ports. Since by default all outbound is allowed, the ports listed are the ones to forward (meaning inbound)

tcp vs. udp? You need to check with your app. It determines the protocol not the router. The answer may be 'both'. Check the website for the app.

Nexland has the absolute BEST user interface of any soho router I have seen. Also the best performance...

Adding hops to your connection will always slow things down a bit - NAT too. That's the price for secure internet connection sharing.
anything is possible - nothing is free

3 ways to port forward on Nexlands, easiest for oddball ones is to use the "Custom Virtual Servers" section...specify your ports, point them to the LAN IP, and name it what you want.

Port Filtering??? O man... is there any guides on the net that explain how I can configure these things on SOHO routers?

You mentioned one way so can you please tell me the other ways for curious reasons. "The Special Application" Page is another way... what woud the other be.

Lastly, of the three ways what would be the best way for max security or do they all perform equally?

Thanks a lot guys :)
