Broadband for Macs?

I was told by a AT&T sales person that Macintosh computers can not have a DSL or broadband connection, is this true?

What do all the Mac users do to access DSL or Broadband service?

Your AT&T sales person does not know their a$$ from a hole in the ground.Macs are the easiest to set up for broadband.

Apple>control panel>TCP/IP>connect via ethernet>DHCP>viola

Or something like that

i think there's a couple of pppoe managers for mac... so dsl works... and there's dsl that doest use pppoe and should work on any os dat has tcp/ip... u can also get a router with built in pppoe and jus use dhcp to connect the modem to the router and use dsl...
the guy u talked to didnt know what he was talking about... who hires these idiots anyway?

The guy probably meant that they don't support it. Meaning you're on your own as far as setting it up.

They'll install the line and modem, but it'll be up to you to do the rest.

MACs are supported by ATTBI! They are the easiest computers to set up. Plug em in and play!

glad i came across this post, someone just gave me an old mac, very old, yet it has the rj45 hook up in the back...its a Powermac 7500 or something to that nature (i'm not home right now, at school).. i plug it in (have a router at home) i did all that before, ctrl panel>tcp/ip set it to dhcp and ethernet, but how do i test if i'm online.. i see no browser?.. what shall i do.. as you can tell i know nothing about Mac's, just something i want to play around with... any help would be greatly appreciated.. thx

While there are no Internal adapters for DSL or Cable that I am aware of for Macs, ethernet is ethernet.

If you have to use PPP to connect, get a routher that will do it for you.

I have DSL and use PPPoE, i configured it correctly, dhcp, and ethernet, should be on..i just don't know how to tell if am or wha?...don't know anything about macs...doesn't have a browser, where i can test anything out...!!..ahhhh

you need to install a browser... on your windows machine, you'll need to download somethin like netscape for free.. but get the MAC version obviously and also make sure it's compatible with your version of the OS. If you have a netscape disk or somethin... that should have MAC versions on it.

oh yeah that guys an idiot man. unless he did mean they dont support it instead of its not possible. anyway i know you can because at my school we have all imacs and they are all connected to the internet with high speed internet. hmmm i wonder what it would be like to have all school comps on 56 k???
