Post by chimdogger »

Ok, so obviously Austrailia is in the Southern Hemisphere making the seasons opposite of the Northern Hemisphere. Is Summer cold and winter warm down there??? How does the seasons work in aussie land? I was just curious. Plus me and the wife were talking about a vacation there sometime.

Nope, I dont think he does. I once was asked by an American if we spoke English??

We have Summer and Winter and Spring and Autumn. Winter is official from June 1st to August, Spring is September to November, Summer is December to February and Autumn is March to May. Hope that clears it up for you mate. :)

If you leave it till after September, you can come and watch us Aussies ride our Kangaroos down the main street of Sydney :D :D

Us Canadians share a border with the Americans, seasons are the same for us as they are for them.

They still drive up here to go skiing in the hot summer months lol
We get a real kick out of watching them drive around with skis strapped to the top of thier cars.

Not too bright those americans :D

http://www.bom.gov.au/weather/qld/ is the Gov't weather website for the state I live in. You can access any state's weather from there.
http://www.australiasevereweather.com/ is a site that will give you some hours of interesting info about what to expect.

I live in the tropical North of the country and our winter started today. We only have 2 seasons. They are "The Wet" and "The Dry".

At the moment, clear skies, cold mornings that get down to around 6 degrees Centigrade and max at 22 to 26 degrees during the days with low humidity. This will stay like this until about October.
Further south you will find colder weather, rain, snow and winds.

Summer here ("The Wet") starts around November and goes through till April. Southerners have Spring, Summer and Autumn seasons during that time. What we get is high humidity, cyclones and storms. The sort of weather that rots the fork outa ya jocks while you are wearing them.

Hope you find the links helpfull and when you visit this great country of ours, give a shout and I will buy you a real beer.

Now c'mon Tom, everyone has a kangaroo for a pet.

Tried a Kangaroo steak yet?
Yum!
Keeping it on the plate can be difficult though. Especially when it's cooked rare.

Nice webcams of Melbourne. Looks like a nice winter's morning down there. I was there this time last year for a conference and it was cold and wet.

Have a great weekend.
