ive seen people posting pictures of their desktop and stuff..

How do you do that?

print screen for the whole desktop

alt + print screen for just the highlighted window

I.e. The key on the keyboard above Insert.

...then you have to paste the image in a graphics software program, save it. :-)

that seems like a bit of a pain. why can't we just upload them right from our p.c to this site?

space limitations on the SG servers and for the sg servers to deal with sending the images as well would be quite a load.
