Thread Icons

Post by Qwijib0 »

I noticed the [H]ard|Forum now has envelope icons next to threads that you replied to, and a slightly different one for the threads you've replied to, and then someone else replies. Any way this could be implemented?

Thanks for the consideration!

we have the capability, but it uses up CPU cycles and resources

and with our current state of 'server to busy' messages I don't think we should do anything to use MORE resources hehe

"dot icons" enabled, custom avatars file size increased to 10KB, searches reduced to 15s intervals, PM messages bumped from 70 to 100... Let's see how that works.

how about, NO Avatars, saving on server bandwidth and go for sig images, not using server bandwidth that way :p

I'm still in favor of that if we can make sure we police it well enough. Post certain rules, and if they don't follow it, they don't get a sig! :p

The main prob with images in sigs is that they are stored on other servers, usually free servers, which are slow, plus the fact that inevitably they get abused...
It is hard enough just trying to keep the text in sigs now. We go back to images and with in a month it will be full page pics to try and control. This kills the dial up people...
This has been tried a few times and each time, the same results...

We have all of our time currently being used trying to make major changes to the site. To try and field complaints, edit images, etc., is time that we currently do not have to waste...

Maybe if we can ever come up with a way to limit the size, as is done with av's, it may be tried again. But definitely needs to stay on the back burner for now...Sorry...
