"This Love"

by Pantera

If ever words were spoken
Painful and untrue
I said I loved but I lied
In my life
All I wanted
Was the keeping
Of someone like you
As it turns out
Deeper within me
Love was twisted and pointed at you

Never ending pain, quickly ending life --

(Chorus) You keep this love, thing, child, toy
You keep this love, fist, scar, break
You keep this love

I'd been the tempting one
Stole her from herself
This gift in pain
Her pain was life
And sometimes I feel so sorry
I regret this the hurting of you
But you make me so unhappy
I'd take my life and leave love with you

I'd kill myself for you, I'd kill you for myself --

(Chorus)

No more head trips

Appreciate Replies Guys.

Since I have to present this to class, I would prefer a song that is catchy and "popular".....I might check out that Pantera song :)

Great choice a0c2e4! And you can put "Pictures of You" on that list too.

I've been a long time fan of The Cure since 1985.

hmmm... tough call.

either Prodigy's "Smack My B!tch up" or Jim Croche's "Time in a Bottle".

the latter being the serious offering. and all i can say is "DUDE, IF YOU WANT TO GET WOMEN WITH YOUR GUITAR PLAYING, LEARN THIS SONG!!!!!".

(*regains composure*).

no, but really. it's a wonderful song, and sounds great played acousitically with no backup. and, as per the topic, a love song.

and if you want to take a different angle on the English assignment, try moving the "love" thing laterally and going for Jim Croche's "Cat's in the Cradle". it's a song/story outlining a father/son's relationship through time. thus, paternal love. love songs about chicks is too cliché. teachers tend to like intelligent free-thinking and originality.

The song's a good choice, even though Harry Chapin did it

How about "Tainted Love"? by Manson or .......see that! I shoot my mouth off about a misidentified artist and now I can't remember who did this one first.

Look at Bon Jovi "Livin on a Prayer" or Rod Stewart "Young Turks" for hard fought teenage love

Another oldie from the 80's would be Depeche Mode "Somebody" and "A Question of Lust".

Martin Gore came up with a masterpieces with those babies.

"Somebody"

I want somebody to share
Share the rest of my life
Share my innermost thoughts
Know my intimate details
Someone who'll stand by my side
And give me support
And in return
She'll get my support
She will listen to me
When I want to speak
About the world we live in
And life in general
Though my views may be wrong
They may even be perverted
She'll hear me out
And won't easily be converted
To my way of thinking
In fact she'll often disagree
But at the end of it all
She will understand me

I want somebody who cares
For me passionately
With every thought and
With every breath
Someone who'll help me see things
In a different light
All the things I detest
I will almost like
I don't want to be tied
To anyone's strings
I'm carefully trying to steer clear of
Those things
But when I'm asleep
I want somebody
Who will put their arms around me
And kiss me tenderly
Though things like this
Make me sick
In a case like this
I'll get away with it

© 1984 Martin Lee Gore - Depeche Mode

"A Question Of Lust"

Fragile
Like a baby in your arms
Be gentle with me
I'd never willingly
Do you harm

Apologies
Are all you seem to get from me
But just like a child
You make me smile
When you care for me
And you know......

It's a question of lust
It's a question of trust
It's a question of not letting
What we've built up
Crumble to dust
It is all of these things and more
That keep us together

Independence
Is still important for us though (we realise)
It's easy to make
The stupid mistake
Of letting go (do you know what I mean)

My weaknesses
You know each and every one (it frightens me)
But I need to drink
More than you seem to think
Before I'm anyone's
And you know......

It's a question of lust
It's a question of trust
It's a question of not letting
What we've built up
Crumble to dust
It is all of these things and more
That keep us together

Kiss me goodbye
When I'm on my own
But you know that I'd
Rather be home

It's a question of lust...
