Re: how to configure tiny personal firewall?
Hiya, here's some links on how to set up Tiny. The last one's the FAQ. Some of the links refer to fairly early versions of Tiny which had less features but the basic concepts are still useful.

If you're worried about your browser showing info, I use a program called Proxomitron which is just excellent; provides privacy, blocks pop-ups, banners, nasty scripts and all kinds of stuff. It's a proxy thingy that runs with your browser. If you want to investigate that:

Let's see... I think browser and OS versions being reported is a javascript thing. I'm just looking at the Proxomitron filters here to see if you might solve that by enabling more filters. Maybe "kill nosey javascripts" and some others - I know you can hide OS, I just have to remember how... I'll get back to you if I sort it out.
If you ever need more help with Tiny, there's a very good discussion group at yahoogroups.com called tinyfirewall where you can post questions. They also have the latest versions of Tiny there long before they get posted on the offical website. Glad I could help

Can't ping the servers? Did you block ICMP in a rule? If so, you may want to be more selective about which ICMP modes are blocked.
You can temporarily disable a rule by unchecking it. Then run your program and see what Tiny asks permission for. You have to be in Medium security mode for it to do so, I believe.
