My sister lives up in Seattle and was up on the 38th floor of her office building when that big quake hit there awhile back...was something like a 7.5 I think...she said the building swayed back and forth...that would have freaked me out...

I didn't feel a thing. I hate earthquakes btw.... I don't like anything having that much control over me.

Poor EA...BIG BAD MAN BE SCARED OF AN EARTHSHAKE!

I didn't hear a thing on the TV about a quake...oh well. Anyone remember the SF quake back in 89? the **** of an English teacher was RIGHT in the middle of that one, said there was his pic in National Geographic

I've read many times that California will one day break off and join the Pacific. It's only a matter of time, no one can say for sure when tho.
I'd be moving outta there fast, sell my house before it gets soaked and becomes a houseboat.
Next one could be the biggie man, you never know.

I know California is "The place we outta be", (Beverly Hillbillies) :D
but that's scary, to live with knowing it could crack off from the mainland at anytime.

EA, you're wife will control you, it's only a matter of time too lol jk :D
Don't let my wife see this

It won't "crack off at anytime" through plate techtonics, it is drifting away along the many faults we have. It moves about a 16th of an inch each year, so unless we have a quack that breaks the scale, we gunna be here for a VERY long time to come

Hmmmm, still scary, a biggie could actually make it happen then?, yikes!!

I'll stay here on solid granite for now, in the middle of a huge plate. Not much ever happens here, we have been extrememly lucky.

yes the San Andreas fault runs from the sea of cortez between Baja Califonia and mainland Mexico north through San Bernadino and Riverside all the way through San Francisco. the eastern side is the North American Tectonic plate, moving slowly S. Westward. and the western side is the Pacific Tectonic plate moving N Eastward.
eventualy the sea of cortez will extend all the way to SanFancisco.

we prolly won't see it. (bummer)

On the contrary, California will not break off, but rather sink. I have seen many shows on Discovery that said this. California will sink below the surface of the ocean, and it will appear to be gone and the coast would move inland a couple of states.
