Increases in dl speeds with Wink2k or XP?

Post by JimMorrison3169 »

I was just wondering how your internet experience has changed since you got Win2k or Xp. I saw one person say that his download speeds increased from 150 to 400! I know not everybody is getting those kind of results, but I would like to know if you saw any increases by using one of the operating systems. I currently have Win98 and download usually 145-160k.

I actually lost speed on XP. using RC2, and my DL's went from the not spectacular 150-200KB, to 50-150KB.

Hehehe, when I tried to install XP I couldn't even get past the installation cause I keept getting blue screens of death all the time :)

And If you havn't used any patches on win98 you will be able to see a good speed increas changeng to win2k. Before I apply any patches on win98 I max out about 200k win2k without patch max ~550k (win98 with patch ~595k, win2k with patch ~610k.

Yes, doesn't matter though with Cablenut, since you can always change the stuff.

NT/2000/XP is about 20% better on internet than the 9x. That's a fact.
