Can you help me tweak this?

Post by TakeruKobayashi »

Hello, all you hard-tweaking CPU Peeps! :D I am a newbie here, as you can see. My brother told me to come here after I kept blaming him that my download is too slow, and since we are on Sygate home network, and he's the main CPU, he took all the blame everytime I complained to my mom. :D :D ;) ( My mom doesn't know a thing about Computers)

I am running a Athlon 1.2 GHz, @ home Cable, and T-Bird Motherboard. Windows 98, and looking for a Windows XP Warez version( Can someone PM me for that?) Is looking to plant a big RamDrive on Windows XP if possiable. Running 256 Mb Ram.

Here's my test results..

TCP options string = 020405b4010303030101080a000000000000000001010402

MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1448, which is less than MSS because of Timestamps, or other TCP/IP options used.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 373360
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 3 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 46670
For optimum performance, consider changing RWIN to a multiple of MSS.
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 14934.4 kbps (1866.8 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 5973.76 kbps (746.72 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 17 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = ON
Note: Timestamps add 12 bytes to the TCP header of each packet, reducing the space available for useful data.

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

I am changing my RWIN to 513920 to see if that works better. Don't know what will happen though. I have CableNut, but so far, it hasn't improved my speed, but it almost tripled on my brother's HP Pentium Celadon 800 MHz running 128 Ram and Windows Me.

Hope someone can help me out here. :) Thanks in Advance.

Once youve set your RWIN and MTU/MSS, you've pretty much maxed your connection.

Then you get into the advanced tweaks, like in my sig.

We'd be glad to help you tweak your system no problem, and setting up RAM drives etc...

Howerver asking for warez on here is highly illegal and not permitted.

I'm going to go ahead and close this thread now, you are freely welcome to open up another thread if you need help on someting else, just don't ask for warez ;)
