Did I reach my MAX SPEEDS?

Post by SSky11 »

Hey guys its been awhile. I think I hit my speed CAP i just need you guys to confirm this, can I get more out of my DSL?

Verizon DSL 640/128
Windows 98se
AMD Duron 750 Mhz
128 PC 133 RAM
GeForce2 MX 32MB
Enternet 300

Set to Network Server
Irq Tweak-Installed
RAM DISK-Installed.
Speedguide.net Patche-Installed
WebPage Patch-Installed

TCP options string = 020405ac0103030301010402

MTU = 1492
MTU seems to be optimized for PPPoE... If you are not on a PPPoE connection, consider increasing your MTU to 1500 for optimal throughput.

MSS = 1452
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1452, which is equal to MSS.
MSS is optimized for PPPoE. If you are not on a PPPoE connection, consider increasing your MTU value.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 513920
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 3 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 64240
For optimum performance, consider changing RWIN to a multiple of MSS.
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
511104 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
255552 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
127776 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
63888 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 20556.8 kbps (2569.6 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 8222.72 kbps (1027.84 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 50 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

Your Tweakable Settings:
Receive Window (RWIN): 513920
Window Scaling: 3
Path MTU Discovery: ON
RFC1323 Window Scaling: ON
RFC1323 Time Stamping: OFF
Selective Acks: ON
MSS requested: 1452
TTL: 65
(less any hops behind firewall)
TTL remaining: 52

Example 146000 byte download
Actual data bytes sent: 146000
Actual data packets: 101
Max packet sent (MTU): 1492
Max packet recd (MTU): 1492
Retransmitted data packets: 0
sacks you sent: 0
pushed data pkts: 1
data transmit time: 2.040 secs
our max idletime: 127.4 ms
transfer rate: 54459 bytes/sec
transfer rate: 435 kbits/sec
This is not a speed test!
transfer efficiency: 100%

Good data stream (no rexmits)

ICMP (ping) check
Minimum ping: 25 ms
Maximum ping: 38 ms
Ping stability:
38 26 25 34 29 30 31 27 31 26

Looking good

your just about at what they list a max so you should just about be there, but you should always keep trying new thing. the speed for DSL is also set be how far you are from the server so remeber to keep that in mind

I doubt they have a package with 640 down and 128 up. The only 640 package has a 90 upload. The next package would be 768 down/128 up, that's what you're most likely under right now.

That's why I think your MAX download is 768. 640 package only provides an upload of 90. Alot of people with this package are getting the same exact speed.. Try 139392, 174240, 185856, 217800, 232320, 255552, 261360, 278784 and 522720 for RWINs. Let me know which one works best. Good luck.

I tried the Cable and T-1 line speed test and it went too fast  (no such thing) :

Your download time was under 1 second. Most likely, your transmission speed is inaccurate: it has probably been overestimated. You should retest your bandwidth using a larger block size (i.e., higher connection speed test).

So i did a T-3 test and i got...

Text Block Size 1000 KB
Download Time 3790 ms
Receive Buffer 513920 bytes
Transmission Speed 2111 Kb/s

Road Runner.
