Hello Ruben22. Welcome to SG. You can find the software at:
http://www.cablenut.com. Take your time. Back up any file before you change it (to include your registry). No need to rush into a tweak. Come back tomorrow when there are some people around to help you.

Know what you want to do before you try doing it.

Good Luck!

Doc :)

now what?

Post by Ruben22 »

I installed that cablen nut and this is what I got on the test TCP options string = 020405b40103030001010402

MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which is equal to MSS.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 8760
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 8760
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 350.4 kbps (43.8 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 140.16 kbps (17.52 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
Consider increasing your RWIN value to optimize TCP/IP for broadband.

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 111 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

what elses do I do??

in the cablnut shortcut on your desktop, install the CCS files and select your OS and type of connection, reboot and repost :)

ok I did what you told me to do and now I got this

TCP options string = 020405b40103030101010402

MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which is equal to MSS.

256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
64240 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 5139.2 kbps (642.4 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 2055.68 kbps (256.96 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 31 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

is that ok or do I need to change something?

TCP options string = 020405b40103030201010402

MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which is equal to MSS.

513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 10278.4 kbps (1284.8 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 4111.36 kbps (513.92 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 31 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

It seems to download much faster too I tried it at download.com and I got downloads up to 560 kb/s WOW and I tested it on dslreports.com/test and It also went up is it ok if I leave that rwin number or shoudl I change it back to what I had it?

if you are happy with what you have then leave it :) I like to play around some times and I try new RWIN all the time. I also play with other settings however, I do not recommend anyone tryin it unless they know what they are doing :)
