Replacing lock on old Nissan

Post by Humboldt »

Anyone have experience with replacing the driver's door lock on a 93 Pathfinder or similar?

Or point me in the right direction? I'm looking but not finding anything so far.

Do you mean the physical lock or the button that you push to lock/unlock the door?

I have a 2006 and replaced the entire control button thingy for the locks, found it on amazon with a video to install it.

Hey,

Physical lock.

Have a tentative replacement for next Monday but they warned me.

They have the key cylinder in stock, but some of the 93 parts can't be replaced because obviously no longer being made.

Kind of a crap shoot.

Oh ya thats well beyond my knowledge. I can imagine that situation will be more and more common for you. I'm starting to run into it with mine.

Outside of the US, the Nissan Patrol was made very similarly to the pathfinders here, so if you run into parts issues and you want to keep that thing you could look and see which Patrol model matches up to your pathfinder and order parts outside of the US that way. Either that or junkyards.

So far I've only tinkered with electrical stuff and struts to keep the tailgate from smacking me in the head.
