Plumbing help?

Need to replace the cold water shut-off valve on my kitchen sink.

Bought an Ace 3/8" OC, 5/8" OD "coarse thread" replacement.

Threads are just a bit different, not as fine, and can't cinch it down enough to create a seal.

Assuming they're made in a "fine thread"?

Any other issues to be aware of?

Is it stubbed out in copper with a compression stop?

sometimes you can put vice grips on the old nut and wiggle back and forth and the compression ring will slide off

If there's enough copper tube sticking out you can cut off directly behind the compression ring and install new stop

They also have sharkbite stops now

Thanks Cybo, just got home from work.

I'm going to try using the old compression nut and ring (unless that's bad, but seems to be recommended).

Everything was perfect except the threads on the new adapter..."coarse thread". Just would thread on, but the faulty old one went back on fine.

Swapped the coarse out for another almost identical one today that make no mention of coarse, hoping that will do the trick.

Probably not going to try tonight, as the old valve is stuck in off, but if the newest replacement doesn't work and I can't get the old one to not leak again, I'll have to keep the main water shut until I get it figured out.
