Class A IP Addresses

Post by mqazi »

I've studied that networks IP starting from 1-126 are class A networks and they are assigned to some special sites, but when I found by IP address using ipconfig on windows it shows 10.110.161.8, how is this IP address is assigned to our network ?

You're likely behind a router that is performing NAT....sharing a single public IP address to a private internal network. A server or the router is probably running DHCP for the network.

If you do an IPCONFIG /ALL.....you'll see the subnet mask is probably 255.255.255.0 (24 bit, class C) but not knowing your network it could be broken up differently.
The IP starts with a "10" so it's a private IP range
