Hi cybotron r_9

There are so many fine ones it's had to list them all. Here are a few that jump to mind.

Helen Mirren: (Age of Consent, young girl at the time with wicked body & a very sensual persona.) Many films thereafter and always willing to play her age like in The Queen. TV Series: Prime Suspect 1,2,&3.

Meryl Streep: The Greatest of our time imho. She is a real chameleon and simply becomes the person in question. A Prairie Home Companion, Out of Africa & Silkwood to name a few of her movies

Jodie Foster: Something about this girl that simply grabbed me in Taxi Driver and i knew she would be a star right then and for the most part hasn't disappointed too often. Movies like Contact, The Silence of the Lambs & Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore.

Natalie Portman: The Professional, Closer, V for Vendetta & Heat amongst the many

===

Jack Nicholson: About Schmidt, Terms of Endearment, The Shining & One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. He's simply the best

Tommy Lee Jones: The Executioner's Song, No Country for Old Men & Cobb to name a few.

Russell Crowe: Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World, The Insider, L.A. Confidential & Cinderella Man to name a few of his movies. Talented who has a very large screen presence.

Al Pacino: Donnie Brasco, Scarface, Dog Day Afternoon, The Godfather 1/3, he is a fine actor but sometimes chooses his parts in movies badly and makes some stinkers.

Robert De Niro: Killer Elite, Jackie Brown, Casino & GoodFellas, Once Upon a Time in America & The Deer Hunter just to name some of his biggest and i am sure many more I've forgotten. A very talented actor.

Then of course the gold standards of the past: Jimmy Stewart, Bogart, John Wayne, James Cagney, Gregory Peck, Lee Marvin & Richard Widmark amongst those i much enjoyed.

There are so many great actors and actresses, I find it so hard to name a "favorite". Heck I'd have a hard time narrowing down a top 10 list. My answer would depend on the moment and what particular movie or role I'm thinking about, and I could sit here coming up with dozens and dozens as I think about it.

Some of my favorites for the time being..and this list is subject to change and certain will grow...

*Clint Eastwood...just because of his tough guy casting....from the early westerns, to the Dirty Harry series, to some touching roles like Bridges of Madison, and back to grumpy old tough guy with a heart in some recent ones like Gran Torino, and Million Dollar Baby.

*I do enjoy Denzel as an actor, will try to catch any of his flicks.

*Also love Sam Elliot and how he is "old school cool" in so many of his roles. Especially in Road House.

*For immersing themselves in a role....it's hard to beat Dustin Hoffmans work in Rainman.

*Similar with Will Smith. Love his comedy touch in most of his movies.....but he and his boy in "Pursuit of Happyness" just gets your eyes watering and heart aching.

*Jack Nicholson....love his roles

Actresses...
*Jodie Foster

...I'll come up with more later, gotta jump back to work

arnold schwarzenegger.

Only because I was 11 and my dad took me to see Conan the Barbarian and it has death and naked girls.

My dad after the movie told me to shut up about it around mom or I'd never see a movie like it again with him.

I shut up, lol

I agree with Denzel being great, but The Book of Eli is what you put out there? God that movie was trash.

Mandy Patinkin, Micheal C Hall, and Aidan Gillen are really great as well.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Tom Hanks yet.

Also
Ashton Kutcher "The Butterfly Effect" which I saw recently is great.

While I enjoy many actors, a special place in my heart goes out to those who can play outside their typecasting.

I realize that these are predominantly American actors

Joe Pesci
John Lithgow
Johnny Depp
John Hurt
