I haven't read this article yet, but I will. I know that I have read some articles through out time that said he was a shady, greedy guy. I get rid of anything McAfee and Norton/Symantec home versions as i don't like (trust) them either...

A long while back, I liked McAfee, it "did" work well at the time. I also like the software because virus definitions as well as program definitions were "free". I would recommend it to all of my clients "back" then. Then, Mcafee changed there terms of service (ToS) and stated to charge people to use their updates (including my clients), so I had my clients changed to another software vendor. I even called them and get a really stuck up rep. I have not done any business with them since then.

Lol, my first thought as well.

McAfee may be weird, but I find it interesting that he is nonconformist and his money allows him to be as eccentric as he wants, lol.

The paranoia and dealing with gangsters down in Belize is a bit much though.

"Success, for me," he has said, "is being able to wake up in the morning and feel like a 12 year old."
poor rich guy felt like a 17yr old when he went to bed the night before. keep striving for success

I was going to post a link to that thread, but the SG search results for "bullsh|t" were too numerous

sometimes you have to think outside the box to get inside the box ;).

In today's paper

John McAfee’s neighbour complained of gun shots, ‘roguish behaviour’ next door a week before being found dead

The multi-millionaire inventor of McAfee antivirus software is being hunted by Belize authorities after an alleged rival was found shot to death, according to news reports.

John McAfee, 67, is wanted for questioning in the death of Gregory Faull, a Florida contractor who was discovered in a pool of blood at his home in the Central American country with an apparent gunshot wound to the back of his head, according to local police reports.

A week before his death, the contractor had filed a formal complaint with local authorities alleging that the antivirus pioneer had fired off guns and demonstrated “roguish behaviour” — allegedly over an issue of dogs, according to Gizmodo.

“This is clearly a military dictatorship where people are allowed to go and harass citizens based on rumour alone,” Mr. McAfee told Channel 5 Belize after the raid.

Sorry.

John McAfee, software guru on the run, arrested in Guatemala

GUATEMALA CITY—Guatemalan police arrested U.S. software guru John McAfee on Wednesday for illegally entering the country and said it would expel him to neighbouring Belize, which he fled after being sought for questioning over his neighbour’s murder.

McAfee, who had been in hiding for three weeks, crossed into Guatemala with his girlfriend, Samantha, to evade authorities in Belize who wanted to question him as “a person of interest” about the killing of fellow American Gregory Faull.

“He entered the country illegally and we are going to seek his expulsion for this crime,” Interior Minister Mauricio Lopez Bonilla said.

Guatemala government spokesman Francisco Cuevas said McAfee, 67, would be expelled to Belize and he expected the process to be completed by early Thursday morning.

Guatemala deporting software pioneer McAfee to U.S.

“I’m happy to be going home,” McAfee told reporters dressed in a black suit as police escorted him to Guatemala City airport on Wednesday afternoon. “I’ve been running through jungles and rivers and oceans and I think I need to rest for a while. And I’ve been in jail for seven days.”

He told Reuters a short while later that he had boarded a plane for Miami and was waiting to take off.
