Login problem

Post by Debbie »

Hey guys. I finally put a power supply in my old dell dimension 4500s and gave it to my cousin. Problem is I must have set up a windows password and cannt remember for the life of me what it is.

I was told to hit Ctrl alt delete twice and toe the user name "administrator" and just press enter but it doesn't work.

I even pulled out the manual and followed the instructions to remove the jumper plug on the Pswd jumper. That didn't work either.

What can I do?

If it is XP-Home, then you have to boot to safe mode in order to have access to the Administrator account.

If that doesn't work, you might need to use the Ultimate Boot CD (google it) or similar to reset the user passwords.

Grab the UBCD and boot that, Has a few password reset apps on it, Or use a dedicated password reset cd. like http://pogostick.net/~pnh/ntpasswd/
