Well, new to me, picked up a used Canon 1d 2n off local Craiglist a few months ago and just recentlly getting it out for a spin.

Thanks fellas, Dan I use the poor man's birding lens, was the main reason I went with Canon instead of Nikon, a reasonably priced 400mm lens.

It's a wonderful lens, well regarded amongst birders......good for flower shots too.

That is not a cheap lens by any means, real birders must come from rich stock if that is the poor man's version.

Wow, it's gone up a few bucks since I bought mine a few yrs. back. I paid a grand for it then.

It's still reasonably priced even at the new $ compared to the Canon great whites or the Nikon 400mm.
