I'd appreciate it if anyone could help with this.
How would I find my email addresses to save them to a disk so I don't loose them when I do a format.
I'm using Windows 7 and Windows Live Mail
Thanks very much
Stu
You need Microsoft Office installed to have Outlook, which is what saves data to your personal folder in a single PST file. But according to your post, Outlook is not what you have....so don't bother looking for a PST. Your post said "Windows Live Mail"..which is an entirely different animal.
Windows Live Mail is not Outlook....it's the freebie light e-mail client Microsoft provides for Vista and Windows 7 that replaced Outlook Express we used to have on Windows XP and earlier.
It is now saved in .EML format, instead of the .DBX form of Outlook Express
Found in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail and you'll see all the appropriate folders and sun folders there and make sense of it.
If the computer is still running, you can find it by opening up Live Mail...and going > Tools > Options > Advanced > Maintenance > Store Folder.
Now your contacts....they're stored in a new place, C:\Users\<username>\Contacts instead of the old .WAB format of Outlook Express in prior OS's.
