I have been using "spywareblaster" & "spybot search & destroy",
are they still considered good freeware ?

if not ,what do you guys recommend ?

is there any that are SIGNIFICANTLY better ?

Spybot, Malwarebytes, SuperAntiSpyware

Those are the 3 I use for general anti-malware but as far as anti viruses go I'd use Microsoft Security Essentials, AVG, or Avast.

Hey, not sure if it's available on Windows 7, but I use Avast! Antivirus... It's super awesome.

I also use Spybot Search and Destroy Resident as a firewall, which is awesome, they both dont allow in or out traffic without your consent, which is painful to begin with, as you need to tell it that firefox, thunderbird etc is safe, but once it's through the teething stages its awesome.
