road runner cable intenet

Post by mets23 »

I have road runner. I have my ps3 wired to my road runner modem. According to ps3 Im @ 10.0 mbps for download and 359.4 kbps upload. I want to know if this is very good connection speeds. Seems like when I play online game such as battlefield the other guy kills me first. I can be just unloading a clip into someone and one shot and Im dead. I know the game has some variations, such as type of gun, headshot. Seems like they see me before I see them.
I was going thru my motorola router 56 kbps, then I wanted to try it direct wire. The direct wire seemed to have helped, but not enough. Roadrunner informed me that I have the second highest internet download they offer. The next would be turbo. Turbo is to much money for me. Thanks

It sounds like you may have a higher ping than some of the players you are up against. From what I understand, speed is not as important when gaming online as ping is. Ping is the time it takes your data (your shots) to go to the server and then to the other players system (to hit him). If his ping is significantly lower than yours then his shots arrive "faster" than yours and he will win the exchange.

I have issues with this all the time in COD MW2 (or at least I think I do, maybe I am just slower to pull the trigger) and do not know of a fix.

I am sure some of the experts on the site will be able to offer more help, just thought I would offer an explanation for what is happening.

Until warp speed is achievable, you are limited by the speed of light and distance.
