Screw Obama.
Screw Obama.
His getting into office was a gigantic mistake. Look at the crap he's trying to pull - national healthcare, two-faced "relations improving" with other countries while still remaining at war, ignoring the deficit of the country so that he can put useless craptastic programs in place, keeping NCLB (no child left behind) in place and not even addressing how it's destroying the national public school system, forcing states to put new laws on the books (taking away more states rights, typical socialist bullshit) by taking needed federal funding for the interstate system away if they don't...
Yeah. Screw Obama. And the democrats. Screw them long and hard - I'm voting Republican next election just to get his lame-duck, useless, socialist ass out of the white house. Screw Obama.

So trade that typical for something colorful, and if it's crazy live a little crazy!

OMG... pretty much. I have bitten (bit??) my tongue so many times this year, trying to to be receptive of new ideas, things I hadn't thought of. New concepts- a different perspective. I really, really have tried to be objective about this, but Oh My God (yes- I said God.... can you imagine it?). I t is frightening. Don't people realize the path this President wants to follow? The left is euphoric over this guy. How about his desire to end summer vacation for schools? WTF???? The children need more time in school... yeah, right- that's the answer. Oh wait, that means more school employees and higher school salaries. And don't even start on this rah-rah Health Care debacle. The people who PAY for this country need to wake up, and soon!Dan wrote:he's the leader of the biggest and best financed sleeper cell in history

Palin was the only one between both tickets that wasn't a closet Socialist. Probably would've been the same with McCain, only a lot more gradual than how Obama's going about it.YARDofSTUF wrote:Its not like the Senile and Sheltered ticket was that promising.
Edit - Let me know call Obama a closet Socialist, since he made it pretty obvious that he was a full fledged Socialist and didn't try to hide it.

Yet if we keep the comparisons to "first year in office"...Bush began his term with fairly good ratings. The ratings rose to approx 90% approval within a year. He closed his first time remaining quite popular. His decline didn't begin until towards the middle of his second term.Roody wrote:No because compared to the last guy he hasn't even come close in my view.
Lets look at Obamas ratings so far this year.....yeah, tumbling....tumbling down. Oh boy....that's not a declining hill..that's a cliff!
He's on track to succeed at something I'm sure..and that's smashing GWBs record as departing the presidency with the worst ratings ever.

First off his ratings are pretty solid for a first year President as history has shown. Some did better and some benefitted from bad moments in our history. Ultimately though it's how you finish that matters and you know as well as I do man that Bush crashed and burned like few others.YeOldeStonecat wrote:Yet if we keep the comparisons to "first year in office"...Bush began his term with fairly good ratings. Ultimately I want to see Obama do well because a successful President usually means a successful country.
What was the final tally for time spent away from Washington. I know it was the highest ever and I thought I read it was something like 2 or 3 years of his Presidency was spent in Texas?De Plano wrote:Well he was on vacation for something like nine months of his first year

Neither 9-11, nor the ensuing hostilities hurt is ratings. Such diversions have helped Dems and Republicans alike.
Obama was saddled with an economic meltdown and rising unemployment, not of his doing. As much as it might aggravate the rather vociferous Republican pundits, the GOP was pitched out for a reason, and it will take time to clean up the mess (if it is actually possible).

I had to triple read your name....I initially thought this was Downhill.
Different rating systems can help boost any sides position...my point was rather..well...//distracted by more breakfast// he did fairly well in approval ratings for greater than the first 50% of his terms.
Not every president has been handed a smooth running country upon his arrival in office. A president with barely acceptable skills can eek out a decent term riding on the coat tails of a prior presidents good term. It'll be a true measurement of a new president to enter his term during tough times.
I'll maintain my analogy of "We're about to re-live the Carter years".

Not accurate. Here is the correct info.

Also, Bush never recovered from his Axis of Evil speech. That was in '02. From that time forward, he was in almost constant decline.

That's not some new ploy that can be blamed on Obama. Louisiana was the last holdout refusing to raise the legal drinking age from 18 to 21. When the feds said they would take away all our Interstate and highway funding, we changed our minds.Paft wrote:... by taking needed federal funding for the interstate system away if they don't...
EDIT: Another thing that really pissed the feds off, the state raised the legal age to 21 to buy alcohol but you could still legally consume it at 18. Its 21 across the board now but that did cause a hornet’s nest of controversy for a while.
Sliding down the banister of life ..........................
First, I was pointing out that Bush had little worries outside of Gore's petitions and Chandra Levy before the galvanizing attack of 9-11. This would go to the 50% then climbing to the stellar number by years end.YeOldeStonecat wrote:I had to triple read your name....I initially thought this was Downhill.

Second, the mobilization of the "grass roots" Republican pundits clearly wish for Obama to fail, even if it is to the detriment of the nation. We shall see what happens when the US finally is at war with Iran.
As for the name calling, ad hominem makes for poor arguments but can be effective in stirring emotion.
Sadly, I feel this era will be worse than that of Carter/Reagan.

I don't think I would call him stupid. He is not from this country, he has no Constitution or Bill of Rights. We fought the Revolutionary war to get away from being subject to the king(monarch). We are different then every other country as we are free men allowed to own property. People generally don't understand this.JBrazen wrote:Hey stupid, look up the meaning of the word before you start throwing insults around.
Not that it's a bad thing, but on my other forum, we have people from the U.K., New Zealand and a couple of other places that are all trying to us that we are full of it. I can never understand why they think they have to weigh in on an issue that they know next to nothing about. I'm not knocking it because they do provide some good insights, it's just baffles me though.Sid wrote:I don't think I would call him stupid. Because the USA is a massive country. You play a large part in the international arena. Your politics are well publicised and discussed internationally and finally, decisions and policies that are made in the USA can sometimes affect others outside of the country.
