SSC Aero, fastest production car?

Post by YeOldeStonecat »

Haven't been up on the automotive world lately....but this months Popular Mechanics Jay Leno column covered the SSC Ultimate Aero

1180hp
Top speed is supposed to be just over 270mph, so far it's been officially clocked in the upper 250 range...stripping the Bugatti Veyrons title.
0-60 in 2.7something seconds

And according to Jay, based on his experience in driving it, it can actually be used as an everyday driver, quite "usable".

Doesn't look too bad but unless it can be raised up I wouldn't want to use it as a daily driver.

Unless you're using it to mow the grass I don't see it being much of a daily driver.

I don't think his point was ride height.....first pic could be misleading I guess, since it's in grass, looks lower than it really is.

I think his point was....drivability on a daily basis, no extreme leg cramps from a super stiff clutch, the engine isn't finicky..it will pull with ease from stoplights, not overheat in traffic like many ultra exotic cars do, no 20 minute cool-down period required after extended hard trips like many exotics, doesn't need 10,000 dollar tuneups after ever 5,000 miles like some ultra exotics.

So this is the fastest car out there now?Looks pretty sweet.Cant wait to see exotics pushing 300+mph.Now they just have to raise the speed limit.
If you won't stand behind the troops then you can trying standing in front of them.:thumb:
