Urgent Help Needed, can't find 192.168.2.1?

Post by Steve25 »

This problem just started up recently, but some of my devices that use my connection require a certain default gateway. Like the one listed, but recently, I haven't been seeing it anymore. I remember having it before, as I checked it to verify it was working right. That was only a few weeks ago. Now my default gateway is my ip address. I have no idea why this is, or how I can fix it. And because of it, some of my devices outside my computer can't connect to my connection, or if they do it conflicts with it and disconnects my internet. I really need some help, so far nobody's been able to help me and I'm getting pretty desperate. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Can you supply some more details?

What "devices" are we talking about (workstations, servers, routers, printers, etc.)?
When you say a default gateway "like" do you mean that was the default gateway that worked and it is no longer there?
What device was being used as the default gateway (modem, router)?
What OS (or if multiple computers OSs) are involved?

Sure,

The Nintendo Wii console.

Yeah, I remember checking because of a problem I had about a month or two ago and the default was there. Now it's completely different.

The modem I think. I don't have an external router, just a built-in pci card in the back of the processor with an antenna jutting out.

Windows Media Center 2005 with Service Pack 2.

What type of internet service do you have? Does the PC have two network connections setup to do ICS (Internet Connection Sharing)? You will need to have some external device supplied by an ISP that is your gateway.

Yea I agree with ErikD. As he said if your gateway is at modem then u will have to contact ur ISP to get ur degault gateway. For cisco routers i guess the default gateway is 192.168.1.2 or 2.1. Have to check out LOL. but its bettwe if u contact ur ISP
