Weird network client issue

Post by Uberwilhelm »

Hello all.

I have one pc on my network that keeps dropping it's domain log on. It stays connected to the internet, can browse the network vie "My Network Places", and can access servers via run, but when he tries to access network drives via my computer or tries to print, it states not accessable or path not found. One reboot later and he is fine for another day or so then it drops again. He is running Win XP Pro and has an IP reservation in DHCP. Any suggestions? Thanks

Try updating NIC drivers, ensuring that it's doing a domain login instead of a local login. Also confirm the TCP/IP information it gets from its reservation via DHCP...that its getting the DCs IP address for DNS (no others), and if you're running WINS...the correct IP.

Perhaps run a TCP/Winsock repair utility to ensure the tcp stack/winsock files are clean, not injected with malware.

Verified most of that already. That's why this is so confusing. LOL Any suggestions on a good TCP/Winsock repair utility?

Well it has been a week and the issue has not repeated so it looks like that may have done it. Thanks again!
