limiting connection speed?

Post by speedlingz »

Is there a way I can limit the speed of the people that's also using my connection? Like my max speed is 150 kb, so if 2 other people are using my connection I can do a 3 way split making each person's connection like 50 kb max.

Why? Three people can all do 150 kb/sec at the same time.
No one has any right to force data on you
and command you to believe it or else.
If it is not true for you, it isn't true.

Why? Because sometimes i play games and 1 other person using my connection would be using 99% of the 150 kb/sec which would cause me to lag even in a game like warcraft 3

You can do it in 2 ways.

1. you will need a bandwidth throttling piece of software to install on the other users machine.
2. You will need to use a router/managed switch that supports bandwidth shaping features.

In my experience, bandwidth throttling doesn't help much with latency issues :-(
