odd networking question

Post by Otacon132 »

hi guys - i have a question regarding my Asus A8N-SLI deluxe mobo, is it possible to activate both network device's in the bio's, and use one as my primary internet source, and route it out the other to my router for the rest of my network?

this way i would have a direct connection from my modem to the computer.

Windows ICS will do that..so that you won't need the router, your PC would itself become the router.

You'd be better off keeping all the PCs behind a router though, I prefer hardware sharing (router) over software sharing. Plus your PC will stay protected behind NAT>

I have tried doing that, currently im running an EVGA 680i board, and it also has 2 Ethernet ports, the problem is when you split the connection if 1 goes down then your down for the count :( !

Routers are more stable than software means...I'd suspect that your router is faulty, setup improperly, or perhaps needs a firmware upgrade, or the issue is with your lines to the modem..in which case they will follow you to any method you use.
