I dont know anyone who uses the same card, but interesting in DOD and Half life multiplayer, fps fluctuates from 40-70 and 50-90 respectively.

Low fps in CS

Post by daveskee »

Why is it when I'm playing CounterStrike, netgraph tells me I get nothing higher than 30 fps? Everything is fairly smooth, running an ATI Radeon DDR 64 meg graphics board, cable modem, PIII 500mhz, 256k ram. Do I have something configured incorrectly? Everyone else is getting at least double FPS compared to me that I've heard on these threads. What gives?

Ok, if your computer lags, then you've got a laggy computer. Your fps in cs only suffers because your pc is doing other things in the back ground. Try to close things such as MSN, Metacafe, and other programs that would use cpu power and and internet bandwidth.

See if that helps.

low fps overnight

sounds like i'm havin the same problem as you dude.

two days ago i played through half life 2 start to finish with between 50 and 70 fps no probs and playin rfactor at >70fps . today i turn it on and i don't get any more than 15 fps. i havent changed any video settings, either via the driver control panels or the game itself or any resolutions. One thing i did change was my screen refresh rate in windows from 60 to 100, but i changed it back to try it out and still crappy fps. i'm really stumped. Its the same thing with all games i've tried out too (dod source and rfactor), so it must be something else... does anyone have any ideas??
i've got a gigabyte ds3, C2D 6400 stock, 2G corsair 6400 at 4-4-4-12 and a sparkle 7300GS. (with the latest forceware before you ask :P)

I realise the video card is the runt but that isn't what's causing this particular problem because as i said i've ran all the games at excellent fps up until now.

cheers!!!
